I'm just curious since all of the Taiwanese dramas/movies that I've watched has either a genre based on romance or comedy or both. What are your thoughts?
Hmmm that is an interesting question! From what I've seen, a lot of the taiwanese dramas feature idols, and usually I think a rom-com is a nice easier starter for them to get into acting. plus idols will also raise drama ratings, and often financial issues will take prominence over other parts of production Since there are a lot of idols = high ratings= a lot of romcoms. Perhaps, they didn't want to take on meatier melos before they got use to acting? I only know of Autumn's Concerto and Summer's Desire as more melo pieces. Anyways, just my thoughts on why that phenomenon exists.
Because they always are so passionate. If I want to watch a good rom-com I most likely watch Taiwanese kisses instead of Japanese/Korean dead fishes...
Rom-coms are fun... Koreans love Melodrama (or so it seems), while Japanese seem to have a thing for crime/ mystery stuff...
I don't know why, but it sure is interesting... XDDD

The dead fish kiss.... I hate it.
Though I think that Koreans still are better with kisses than the Japanese... XDDD
