Since my mom and I are addicted to Asian dramas/films, I am wondering who else in your family watches Asian dramas/films? Also, how did you persuade them to watch it or watch it with you? -Your Mom -Your Dad -Your Brother or Sister or Both -Your Husband/Fiancée/ -Your Children -Your Grandmother/Grandfather/Aunt/Uncle/Cousins -Your Pet???
My mom was the one who got me into k-dramas, telling me that they were available on the Web. One day I found a k-drama site, tuned into one and was hooked ever since.
Sometimes my son, but usually nobody. I'm the weird one out. :O
My brother, sometimes with me and sometimes not. He's doesn't watch as much as me though, and I'm surprised amount of people that have their mom watch Doramas. I tried several times to get my mom to watch them and she doesn't really care all that much. I know she is missing out.
AmandaMarta! I am shocked, your pole is biased :D What about children and grandchildren? Not all of us are under 25 you know. But in my family I can't talk my daughter or her step children into watching...though the step-children are always begging me to watch their anime with them... Really, I think, only my sister reads fast enough to watch Asian dramas with me...that's why she is the only one who does.
Sometimes my brother will watch a drama with me, but it's not that often. Result: 99% of the time is watching by myself.
My grandmother who is Japanese; actually she was the one who made me start watching Japanese dramas and when I go to visit her; we always saw old Japanese films and dramas together; she's very traditional and picky about her taste: I enjoy watching Japanese dramas with her a lot but no Korean or Taiwanese because she hates them. Even my mother watches dramas with me occasionally, I like watching Japanese dramas with her too but when it's Korean dramas, we can't understand it like we do with Japanese dramas so we have to use subtitles and she hates that but she's not a great watcher anyway. My husband watched few dramas with me but it has been a long time; I've been meaning to make him watch more but he doesn't seem to like them so I gave up. My cousin in-law (who used to be a member here) was my great partner in watching Asian dramas and films but she lost interest and I feel like I am all alone, unless I visit obachan of course (^_^)
I've made my mom watch k-dramas, which is daebak since she's 50+ (Bianeyo, omma.) She's very childish, so I feel like I'm her mom alomst every single day. xD Anyway, so far she enjoys them, mostly because they're so different from everything else, which keeps her interested enough to keep watching. Teheh. c: She made her first "Aaaaaah" sound a couple of days ago! (Sounds as if I'm reffering to "my own child".) She's only seen City Hunter & Faith, but she'll watch Nine: Nine Times Time Trevel with me very soon. ^_^
@ goldenseal50 I wish I wasn't biased. lol :P The poll only has 10 options and having more than 10 options would be able to fit children, stepchildren, and grandchildren. Thanks for your input! I do realize this :)
Nobody except my cat, when it's winter and the weather is awful outside though... But it is a great Arashi's music fan, it always feels more confortable in the car when I'm listening to them... I don't talk much of dramas with my family, they have no interest in Asian anything... And I'm pretty sure my mum wish me to stop watching them to start to live my life (great mum, but she has never seen any Asian drama, that's why!) Funny to see that lots of us are watching dramas with their pet!
My pareants have watched Iris ( they finished BEFORE (WITHOUT ME) ME and told me the endding...-.-") ...they have watched Dong yi......mum liked the king lol they have seen bits others. Key in the all of them were that they were on DVD and was played in the living room :)
LOL my pet! And then my cousins and mom. Although this goes for Asian movies. I don't live with my parents anymore so we actually scedule movie nights with family. Asian drama is harder to sell in my family. ;)
My mother watches dramas (together with me sometimes) but she only watches Filipino dubbed dramas because reading subtitles for her is a hassle and she doesn't like the voices of people from K, J and T. Sometimes, me and my mom watch movies together too. My older sister watches as well, but not so much as my mom.
Sometimes my dad and mom if it`s a good movie. Mom watched city hunter and faith, because it`s translated to polish, she doesn`t know english at all, except couple words and there is good action in it. My little cousin thanks to me watched Gentelmen`s dignity and now I hear your voice...well It`s not that simple, I have to translate some dialogues..so I mostly watch alone:):):)
