I decided to post this after reading a recent news article on MDL.

You're Beautiful:

Chuno:

I'm not showing this to say one is better than the other or anything of the sort, and with that being said I'll leave it up to each and every one of you to interpret this however you like. I'll just hope at least one person gets my point.
Ok. I think you need to take something into account here. That is that most of the people on this site that affect the rankings on the site are in their twentys or younger, while the official ratings info uses more general statistics. Age has a lot to do with which dramas and actors are ranked the highest on this site. Teens are more inclined to be attracted to the younger, handsome actors and tend to prefer dramas and movies that they can relate to. Honestly, I would be surprised if I saw a young teen with Chuno as one of their faves. I think the best thing to do is not to care, really, about what something ranks on here or not. Just let people like what they want. :-)

That's exactly why I posted this here. Most of the people around here are female teenagers. It just bothers me that THEY don't understand that.

It's stronger than me. And it really wasn't about MDL ranks, considering the community it's to be expected and it won't change.
That was the ratings on Korea. I read somewhere that You're Beautiful (as the franchise was sold to other countries) was more popular internationally (Philippines (aye!) and Japan were the ones I know). MDL is a diverse community, hence, that. lol. And I'm not a teenager but I loved it. I'm on a break on sageuks but maybe I'll try Chuno in the future. I heard a lot of good things about it.
I'm not a teenager but I loved it too. :p My point, though, was that a whole lot of members here are. Not all of us, but probably most members are teens or young adults.
While I am not exactly fan of You're Beautiful I don't think ratings have anything to do with the quality.
You're Beautiful is very popular drama even though the ratings at the time weren't so high.

Here's the another example:
Lovers in Paris, while I don't hate it I really don't understand how it is 11th in the highest rated Korean drama list.
Age is definitely a factor. You're Beautiful was not completely unpopular in Korea, but it was geared towards tapping the teen market, and it was successful on that count. Another factor could be that what is popular to a Korean audience does not translate internationally, and vice versa. I see this a lot with Korean music, where the songs I hear on a daily basis walking around are rarely the songs I see international fans post and rave about on various sites. (I swear if I hear that Crayon Pop song one more time, I'm going to shove a cotton swab so far into my ear...)
Just to clarify, the point of this is that different people will have different tastes. As we can see the ratings of Chuno (random example) were pretty high in Korea and it's not a hit over MDL, and the other way around for You're Beautiful (another random example).

People around here just seem to not understand that. Just trying to open some eyes. I just snapped when someone said that Queen of Ambition was a waste of drama time.
