I'm not the master of threads title, am I? :p Please, bear with me.

We are all gathered here because we love Asian dramas. We love the things we can identify with and we love those which are completely different from our lifestyle because they are exotic, spice up things, make things hilarious or make our hearts beat faster.
But now and then there are aspects I have a truly hard time digesting. They don't deter me from watching, but I can't deny my irritation, or my repudiation. I could name the treatment of children, the humbleness of women, the feudal arrogance of rich people, but I would like to keep this thread a little lighter and concentrate on small details, those that can be funny as well and make me go: I loved this, but...

Here I start: sucking noodles. Please don't lecture me on customs; I'm well aware in some countries sucking your food is a way of showing your appreciation for it.
But I was taught from infancy that I should NEVER, EVER make a noise while eating, or speaking while chewing, so I'd lie if I said I can watch a bunch of CEOs and pretty ladies slurping around without shivering inside.

I'd love to hear your opinion. Are there small things you watch through your fingers?
Where I live we have an aversion to what is called "Double Dipping". When there is a large dish or bowl set out with a snack or meal you don't dip your spoon or fork into this, put it in your mouth and then put the spoon or fork back into the dish. Don't take a potato chip, stick it in the french onion dip, take a bite and then stick it back in the dip...double dipping! It's considered gross because that item, edible or not, has been in your mouth...and who knows where that mouth has been? Put your portion on your plate and eat from there. See? There's a lot of double dipping going on in Kdramas with their food!

The other one that while it shows your caring for the other person and I get the significance behind this act it still kind of grosses me out when I see it happen: The cleaning out of your loved ones ears. Just EW EW EW! I think I'll pick other ways to show my man I care for him, thank you muchly!
one thing which my system can't digest (at all) is the fact that none of the actors in kdramas can call back after the other person hangs up/ disconnects..just go to the received calls and hit the bloody call button already!!!!

I agree. I'm sorry, but I hate people making noises when they and splaying their mouths while it's full with an amount of food that should fit no mouth! I glare at them at restaurants subconsciously and only know I'm doing when my sister tells me "Stop it!" lol

Jeanie, I hate double dipping too. I have to close my eyes when I see everyone on dramas/variety shows eating from the same pot.

And I understand cleaning your child's ears when they are young, but yeah ew...lol
Oh, when they don't want to receive calls, they take out the battery. Doesn't turning off the phone work?
Okay, the slurping doesn't really bother me... but the talking with food in their mouth, or the lip smacking while they chew sends chills down my spine.. can't stand it.. the eating out of the same pot, does and doesn't bother me.... when they are drinking, over filling the cup or dripping it all down their face...
'Half mast' trousers.

Really, gentlemen. The length of ones trousers should be just ever so slightly above the heel when stood up straight - not two inches above the top of your shoes - I don't want to see that you're not wearing socks, especially when you're wearing a three-piece suit, and dress shoes!

LOL.
If you have poor Lee Min Ho in mind, remember it's not the trousers which are too short for his legs but his legs which are too long for the trousers! ;)
Seriously, I can't remember being so much distracted by the length - ehm, shortness - of trousers as I was while watching Personal Taste.
At least in City Hunter they had magically grown a couple of centimetres.

@Lis: taking out the battery and then throwing the phone against the nearby wall is even more effective! ;)

lol I was so distracted by the length of LMH's trousers in Personal Taste, I was like, why can't they get something more suitable. I cringed every time I saw that. When I saw him in City Hunter, the first looked at was the length of his trousers.

Me too, hahahahahaha!!!!

Another thing which always leaves me speechless, mostly in Japanese dramas, is the seeming indifference of people on the road while someone kneels on the pavement and cries his/her heart out.
If something of the kind would happen to me, I would at once run to the person and ask if s/he's all right. I can't imagine passing by without a second glance, and I truly can't imagine that anyone can be so indifferent.

Ha, yay I'm not the only one! The first time I found it actually distracting was in bad guy, both Kim Nam Gil and Kim Jae Wook were wandering around with too short trousers and no socks!

And another thing .... you enter your house, swap your shoes for slippers - yet keep your coat on?!

LOL, so very true!!!!!
I remember one who even went to sleep in his costume, jacket, tie and all. Ok, the drama was ludicrous anyway, but humph nonetheless.

And what about those who lie on a bed with their shoes on? I've seen it quite often, mostly in Japanese dramas. Either they are banned from the country forever for having dared enter a building with shoes, or they happily trample on bed-sheets with boots. :p

you know what I can't stand? it usually happens in kdramas when person is on the toilet with door wide open....gross

btw the thing with the length of trousers doesn't bother me at all. it makes me drool lol :D

Haha That bothered me too, and the trend of not wearing socks. It cracks me up, IDK why. But I just can't stand not wearing sock with my shoes. I could understand if they were wearing sandals, but they are wearing closed toe shoes without socks.............LOL

What a perfect lead in to this: (BRACE YOURSELVES) What is it with the Koreans and talking about poop? Almost every Kdrama, someone has to poop or someone farts...I mean, I know it's normal bodily functions but...they are gross ones! Why do we need to feel so free to talk about it on television?
