So when I watch dramas, I can't help but notice that so many characters have lollipops in their mouth. And even more, the majority of them are males. Two scenes I distinctly remember are:

1. In Boys Over Flowers, there is a scene where LMH straightens his hair, the F4 put their uniforms properly and they all take out lollipops at the same time, while walking down the school hallway.

2. In My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, when NMW's character was being portrayed as cool, what with the black outfit and background music, he was eating a lollipop.

So my question is, are lollipops a thing in Korea and/or kdramas? Is it a trend? Are they supposed to show something about the character? Or am I over thinking things?
I'm wondering about it too. But in Falling for Innocence, the main guy started eating lollipops when he quit smoking.
BTS had lollipops on their MV too. Would be nice to know what the real reason behind it!
