Yamapi and Nishikido withdraw from NEWS!!!!!

I'm late with this news, but these were my two favorite NEWS members. It feels a little like when Akanishi left KAT-TUN. Nishikido is staying with Kanjani8, but Yamapi is going solo.

It makes me wonder, do japanese boy band artists generally have what it takes to be a solo artist or does their power lie in each group member attracting part of the fan base?

woah. i dunno but i think part of it depends on how talented the individual is, and i honestly am not too sure how well Pi will do on his own. it depends on the style of music i suppose, i don't like his voice in super happy poppy stuff tbh but i loved the theme for one of his series, i think it was kurosagi maybe, and i was surprised to find out it was him actually singing it, it was a bit less poppy than anything else i'd heard from him and i thought his voice suited it much much better. so if he goes rock i think he'll do well

i prefer yamapi solo actually. i find news to be a lil too poppy. i like ryo as an actor. i wish both of them success in their solo ventures. ryo is still in kanjani 8 so that's good too. and as for news i hope that they can do better as 4 than they did as 6. ganbatte ikemen!

This doesn't really surprise me much.. I have not ever been much of a NEWS fan, I liked certain individuals, and that is as far as it went, I love Ryo's voice and Kanjani8 has some pretty cool songs, but his voice solo is good too... Yamapi, well, hmm I think he should stick to acting, and if goin solo is his thing, he should stay far far away from popish songs... Out of the other four members of news the only voice I like is Tegoshi...

I completely agree with everything you said. That's exactly what I thought when I heard the news. I found it slightly ironic that Yamapi was the one going solo since he is not as Ryo vocally and Ryo has had a lot of acting roles recently. But, the fact that Ryo is staying with Kanjani8 is one of the things that makes me like him :)

Awww THis makes me sad. :( Yamapi was my favorite member. Oh well, I love his solo work too. And my second fave (Masuda is still in the group). But dang!! They only have 4 members now.
