I awoke this morning with a giddy feeling at the idea of seeing this story progress further. The last time I had this feeling, and restlessness was when The Double was airing. I can't stop thinking about the drama, the cast, and counting down the minutes when the next episode will finally air. Unable to do anything in the meantime I decided to analyze why these dramas have got me craving the next episode like an addict waiting for its next hit.

I rewatched the first episode of The Double and Blossom and found that there were many similarities!

Plot & First Episode

There are many similarities in the first episode, be it the great entrance of the male lead, I think Blossom did it better and can we have a moment of silence for the silver hair! The affair, be it false in The Double's case and reality in Blossom's, the subsequent heartbreak of the female lead's after their husbands metaphorically stab them in the back. The anger, resentment, and anguish can be felt off the screen. When they are given a second chance at life they are set on changing and going against fate. I am here for strong female leads!

The first episodes of both these dramas truly set the stage with the mystery, suspense, and drama of it. The Double and Blossom aren't groundbreaking new plots but the way they unfold in front of our eyes is what makes it addicting.

Pacing

So far the pacing is great, I haven't skipped through the episodes of  Blossom at all and it seems I won't if they keep it up like this. The thing that gets me the most is, these dramas focus on setting up the world instead of focusing solely on the chemistry of the main characters. When they do come in contact they absolutely deliver on it. I remember thinking the same when  The Double was airing and as the story progressed the romance wasn't overwhelming instead it focused more on the revenge of the female lead till the end.

Blossom's first episode was a lot to take in but the following episodes didn't match rather compliment it. The story slowed a bit in order to build the world and take us along for a ride. Another thing that I noted was the cliff-hangers at the end of the episodes, they have me in a chokehold.

Production

I am not going to get into the camera work or the outfits etc. asI don't have knowledge in them however I would like to pint out the background music in both these dramas. The suspense, the buildup, the eeriness; you get goosebumps as you watch the drama because the sound compliments the scenes so well.

There are some thing I do not like in the shows but I want to focus on the good as of now and encourage people to check the drama out at least once, the first episode will make it worth it.

P.S. If the production/cast see this then for the love of great Chinese dramas change the damn title!

Both have a great chemistry.

Song Mo turns into a man in her presence.  But, when he is surrounded by his men, they all turn into little boys when Dou Zhou is present.

This shows the men have great admiration for her wisdom.  Song Mo admires her wisdom.
