Synopsis

Set during the Joseon Dynasty, Yong acted as a hooligan in the marketplace by day but at night he was a thief who robbed corrupted government officials to give to the poor. After each robbery he left behind a painting depicting a plum tree branch to make his mark and was thus named Iljimae. His main purpose was not so much to rob but to search for the owner of a specially designed sword which he saw as a child was used to kill his father, a loyal subject of the emperor. Eun Chae is a government official's daughter who despite her upbringing has a lot of empathy towards the poor. She met Iljimae by chance and couldn't help admiring him for what he stood for even though she had never seen his face.

Who has seen this or plans to watch it?
I've seen it, ages ago.. I was on a historical kick at the time, I really can't remember which I watched first Hong Gil Dong or this one.. I loved it, am actually thinking about re-watching it
this is a good drama..noticed LJK for the first time..i wouldn't say it was the greatest of all dramas but it was good nonetheless..the child actors were exceptional
I really love this drama ;) I still remember how I couldn´t wait for the second season :D
Loved it! But I'm a bit disappointed cause I found out, that Return of Iljimae is not sequel to this series :( And I just don't get it xD
Is he really alive and living with old man on the shore or what? And why he hasn't meet with Eun Chae? :( I wanted her to know his face. One more thing, the ending is the same as the beginning, but isn't it fictional, cause that kiddo, brother of Young-ee has started to tell a story?
They should have explained a bit better the story with mothers, and all... But nevertheless I liked it very very much <3
Edit: SPOILER I think he is alive :)) I just watched the beginning of the 1th episode, and you can clearly see that they are planing to break in that property :D I am happy now hehe :D

The spoiler codes don't work in the forum. And if you were talking about Iljimae, they are really not necessary since this is a discussion thread. Unless you were talking about another drama. :)
I love Iljimae and Lee Jun Ki this was the first proper drama I watched and loved every bit and made me fall in love with Lee Jun Ki - his actings so realistic. All time favourite! Only the ending I didnt like...would have liked to know what happened to Ryungs life afterwards

I see you gave it a 10...I had initially given it an 8 and then a 7, because I thought 8 was too high...lol
Iljimae was a great piece :) ... I loved everything - the story, the actors (esp. Lee Jun Ki :3), the acting, the music ... simply wonderful. I would rewatch it again if I had the time and if my "plan to watch" list wasnt that long :D
