It's a Thai drama but also has modern military like  romance.

Technically not military, but Soratobu Kouhoushitsu is about the life of people from the Japanese Air Defence Force. I think it's a good drama, and you got to see snippets about what Japanese people think about pacifism and anything reeking of militarism in general.

There is this singaporean movie franchise: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ah_Boys_to_Men but I don't think all of them are subbed, so you'll have to google a bit. 

There is also korean https://mydramalist.com/1559-sandglass but it's not 'modern' (1970-1980)

If you just want some modern military action and it doesn't have to be korean/japanese, you should try chinese stuff like https://mydramalist.com/14119-wolf-warriors (second part is better) or some of shows from Hong Kong about special forces, self defence force and so on. And if you just like military action in general, just keep watching these world war shows and movies, they are usually pretty good.
