A few years ago I would only watch 1 or 2 dramas a season, but now I find myself to be watching almost every single airing drama as the general quality simply is so high, and the stories are so interesting and addictive.

Only this year... Life on Mars, Mother, My Mister, Live, Mr Sunshine, Waikiki (funniest comedy ever), Come and Hug me.. and many more. And the dramas that just started airing: Where the stars land, Third Charm, Player, Terius, The Guest (I can already tell this is gonna be another 10/10) - all extremely high quality productions that Im so hyped to keep watching.

Since I found out about Kdramas I have always thought Korea makes some of the best series on the planet, and now it seems that they are.. getting even better?!

Anyone agreeing?

One of the reasons I can think of is that over the last two years ratings and popularity of dramas have been driven more by stories rather than star power.  Obviously shows with big stars like gong yoo, lee jong suk, ji sung have high ratings. But the new crop of actors and actresses have done pretty well too and are being rewarded for it I guess.

Also screenwriters are getting more freedom from before. People have so much access to different forms of entertainment that now unless a show is really good they wont watch it. Hence we are seeing very low ratings like love horribly which is getting only 1% in ratings.

I totally disagree , K drama is trying  to compete with American series and the result  loosing the OG or the feels the old k drama used to have

I think Chinese drama is killing it among Asian drama industry.

i think kdramas are becoming more realistic. of course you still get the cliche dramas with the usual drama tropes but i feel like more dramas are getting rid of them which makes them better. also the cinematography has improved which aids in a drama being good
