Yup!!!love them..wow!!! your avi
I've started watching this show. After Episode 9, I was contemplating giving it up, because the road ahead seemed so long on this 24-episode journey. I read the series review on Dramabeans and then decided to watch it till the end. Even though I know the ending already, I want to see how it unfolds and how the characters deal with their conflicting loyalties and emotions.
TMTETS really is a different cup of tea from TPM - TPM has so much more politics, and the politics part of the sageuk is written with much more detail, whereas in TMTETS the love story is the central part of the story, and the politics part of it is very much more simplistic.

so which one you like more? want to know cause i haven't watch TMTETS...
I have seen booth Moon Huggles the Sun and TPM. I liked The Princess' Man a little better, though I did love them both. I liked TPM better because of the politics and adventure...It was a more dramatic story...a louder, more intense plot. and PARK SHI HOO! ...But that's just me. But I liked MTETS because of it's supernatural elements, and different intrigues. They both had a great love story and an EVIL EVIL Papa. That is for sure. LOL The 24 episodes of TPM went by really fast for me. and MTETS was the same way. I guess it's hard NOT to compare them. But reading through this thread makes me want to watch The Princess' Man again.

I find TPM to be a bit too draggy and long for my liking. TMTETS is 20 episodes long. One of the things about TMTETS that attracts me to it is its up-and-coming cast, not just the adult cast like Kim Soo Hyun and Co, but the child actors as well. So personally I prefer TMTETS but TPM has many strengths as well. I would say just watch both! :D
TPM is awesome...it's one of my favourite dramas ever...the plot, the cast and the crew, the ost.. everything is just brilliant lol
Well, I've just completed the drama. I am quite impressed by the ending! Upon reflection, there were many themes running through the drama too - a result of the show being 24 episodes long - a reflection also of the good writing on this show. Some of the themes that come to my mind include: The role of women Class divide (nobility and commoners and slaves) Friendship and betrayal (bromance and sisterhood) Happiness and contentment Father-daughter relationships Political alliances and betrayal Phew! That's quite a lot there! Impressive stuff.
One thing that bothers me about kdramas is that the villian who sheds so much blood, causes so much heartache, doesn't always pay for his or her sins. The victims suffer to the end. But I'm actually happy with this ending ( except for the eyesight thing. It wasnt needed. ) It kept me interested until the end and Park Shi Hoo gained a fan and Moon Chae Won was great as always.

Yes, the baddie in a drama not getting their justice always gets me! It bothers me so much. In the case of The Princess' Man, the true history of the baddie king is that he actually stays in power for some years after he ousts his brother and goes on his murderous rampage of all the previous king's men and anyone else he thinks is an enemy. Fiction though it is, it is based on historical facts so I guess that is why we don't get the justice we want for him. Although he did lose his daughter...and I think that actual history is that he loses her as well?! I'd have to look again. I was googling him pretty hard while this was airing. LOL
Yeah I figured it was based on true facts, and throughout history so much evil surrounded those in power.....Still does actually. I definitely googled while I watched Dong Yi. I may sound like a geek but I love history!

Not at all! I am the same way. Sauguks based on truth intrigue me. I was that way while watching Tree With Deep Roots about King Saejong. But really, I do it all the time, even with US movies and such. I love history too!

There is so much bloody power play in world history when it comes to monarchies and the gaining/holding/usurping of same. It seems like the more you search and look up the history of kings/queens and such, I am more surprised when they die of old age than when they die by some violent method like war, murder and such. LOL But it all fascinates me.

Baddie King Sejo got off so easy in reality! :(
Hi everyone, I am on Episode 23 of this drama so I only have the last one to go. I may be one of the few out of many who really loved this drama to say that I didn't enjoy it all that much. After having seen Sungyunkwan Scandal and The Moon that Embraces the Sun I was expecting a lot from this story but somehow it didn't involve and entertain me as much as it should have done. Unfortunately the main cause for my not enjoying it was the main actress Moon Chae Won, whom I appreciated very much in Innocent Man, but who didn't convince me in this drama. I didn't like neither the character she played whom I found unpleasant nor the way she played it with always the same facial expression which in my eyes spoiled the chemistry with Park Shi Hoo who did an amazing job. Although I understand the motives and the drive that her character had to go against all orders and rules and keep running after PSH, I personally found it really irritating with also very predictable outcomes. My favourite couple in this story was certainly the princess and her husband who really suffered all the possible mishaps that could have happened and dealt with them with a lot of courage and dignity. I also really liked the best friends who survived the drowning and helped PSH throughout his revenge plan. I will certainly watch more dramas with Park Shi Hoo hoping that he has better female partners so that I can enjoy his performances more. I will wait to see the ending as for now this drama will get a 7 from me. I definitely belong to the group who enjoyed TMTS more.
Just finished this drama yesterday. Definitely a great drama, actors did a wonderful job, amazing ost and the story kept me interested the whole time. Ending was nice, but I agree with infiniti512, ( the blindness was totally unnecessary ). I had a very mixed feeling about Shin Myeon - sometimes I even hated him more than Prince Suyang - he could have opposed his father, but he was too coward, I still hoped he would join the good guys. On the other hand, he was a victim of his loyalty to his clan. And I reallly liked the romance between Princess Gyeonghye and Jong, it was touching. They went through a lot of hardships, and their love grew stronger.
