Like, for example I watched rom not too long ago about a FL who had a crush on her high-school sweetheart, and they became a couple for a while a few years later, but he hit her due to a trauma caused by his old girlfriend leaving him for some rich dude, and the FL who basically had a crush on him for 10+ years was like you hit me, so we're over. Not once, did she consider looking for psychological help or whatever... and just broke up and moved on to the next guy who was the ML.... Like... so love is only that much... no wonder the her high-school sweetheart has a trauma.

• You Are My Glory - The leads are unrealistically pretty and talented (and there's a heady dose of nationalism / promotion of Shanghai and China's space industry and gaming industry), but most of the dilemmas the ML grapples with (e.g., work in finance so he can make enough money to make sure his parents are looked after in their old age or stay in the field that he is passionate about even though his career has had little progress and he doesn't make much money) are real-world problems.
• Go Ahead - Difficult family dynamics.
• The Story of Ming Lan - Historical. Difficult family dynamics.
• Better Days - Movie. Deals with poverty, bullying, and death.
• A Little Red Flower - Movie. Cancer patients / survivors.
