Hi everyone!
I`m looking for C-dramas suggestions for the following genres
・Wuxia/Action
・Xianxia
・Historical (from ancient times to early 1900)
There can be romance, bromance, friendship or just plain action, anything is fine...the only MUST is that they shall have a HAPPY ENDING!
Life is already bad/sad enough without having to bear sad drama endings after enjoying them and getting into the characters....I`m not mentally strong enough atm lol. I especially abhor those dramas that start cheerful, bright, with even some comedy in them and then spiral down becoming depressing and sad, with main characters dying, disappearing and so on.........for example I`m watching and enjoying Mysterious Lotus Casebook but I think I will drop it soon because I read it has a sad ending, and I wanted to watch Till the End of the Moon but I avoided it for the same reason .__.
I do like dark, depressing, angsty dramas as well, but they have to be so from start to end and don`t be deceiving, so for this time happy ones only!
I can accept some characters death/accidents, part of the plot being sad and dark and so on, but there has to be a happy ending or at least an open ending that suggests a happy ending (I know the definition of "happy ending" is different for everyone, but I believe my idea of happy ending is quite clear).
This is what I have already watched:
A league of Nobleman
Bride`s Revenge
Extremely Perilous Love
Love between Fairy and Devil
Love is more than a word
Maid`s Revenge
My roommate is a detective
Pledge of Allegiance
Sword Snow Stride
The birth of the Drama King
The blood of youth
The blooms at Ruyi pavillion
The legend of Lin Ye
The lost tomb/The Lost tomb 2/Explore with the Note/Ultimate Note
The Princess and the werewolf
The Silent Criminal
The sleuth of Ming Dynasty
The Untamed
Tientsin Mystic
Wanru’s Journey
Word of Honor
Thank you in advance for any suggestion you are willing to make!
This will be a loooong list since this is a lot of what I watch, haha. I define a happy ending as the leads are alive, together, and neither is in danger or dying so all have clear happy endings unless noted:
- A Camellia Romance
- A Dream of Splendor
- A Familiar Stranger
- A Female Student Arrives at the Imperial College
- A Girl Like Me
- A Love So Romantic
- A Puppetry (set inside a book, so the ending is happy but modern day)
- Affairs of a Drama Queen (set in a historical show, happy ending in show but there's a slight open ending in the real world)
- And the Winner Is Love
- Ashes of Love
- Back From the Brink
- Back to Wedding Day
- Beauty of Resilience (maybe. The leads are together/alive/happy in a different dimension, but they can't return to their original world, and a lot of the supporting characters have tragic endings)
- Behind the Moon
- Believe in Love
- Bossy Husband Who Loved Me (some time travel)
- Butterflied Lover (some people saw the ending as open/a dream but to me it was a clear happy ending)
- Catch Up My Prince (set in a game so the ending is modern day)
- Chef Hua
- Childe Xie's Wine (has some time travel from modern day but it otherwise historical)
- Colourful Bone (NOTE: There were two endings filmed, one tragic in which the ML died and the other in which he survives and it ends with the couple together with their daughter. For the happy ending, you skip the first "last" ep and watch the other.)
- Contractual Love
- Dangerous Love
- Dear Mr. Heavenly Fox (drama has a tragic/open ending but the bonus epilogue gives it a very happy ending for both couples)
- Decreed by Fate (slight teaser at the end for a second season that never happened, but it's a clear happy ending for the leads)
- Delicacies Destiny (open more for comedic effect than anything else, can definitely be seen as happy)
- Demon Emperor's Little Matchmaker
- Destined
- Dong Lan Xue
- Double Assassin
- Dr. Cutie
- Empress Won't Go To Court
- Eternal Love of Dream
- Eternal Love Rain (implied to be happy)
- Fake Princess
- Fated to Love You
- Follow My Dear General
- General's Lady
- Go! My Hero!
- Guyuan Imperial College (time travel at the very beginning, all historical otherwise since FL stays in the past with the ML)
- Hello There (implied to be happy)
- Hold On, My Lady
- In the Day We Flipped (time travel so some modern day, implied to be happy)
- It's Nothing More Than Love (set in a historical game)
- I've Fallen for You
- Jiang Hu Shao Nian Jue
- Jun Jiu Ling
- King Is Not Easy (happy but kind of a weird twist - in the last couple eps it's revealed the story is a novel, ML leaves the novel and comes to modern day where he meets the FL who is the author. The two then move in together.)
- Kill You Love You
- Large Queen
- Legend of Fei
- Let's Shake It!/Let's Shake It! Season 2
- Listening Snow Tower
- Lost Track of Time (open/can be seen as hopeful, but the bonus epilogue gives it a clear happy ending)
- Love & the Emperor ( set in a historical game)
- Love and Destiny
- Love and Redemption (happiest ending I've ever seen in a xianxia)
- Love Better Than Immortality
- Love for Two Lives (mostly historical, there's some time travel and the leads end up living in present day together at the end)
- Love in Between (happy but we don't actually see the leads at the end, only their daughter who talks about them to someone else and then runs inside and we hear the ML talking to her. When we last see him he's critically ill so it's implied he survived, the leads are together, and had a child)
- Love Is Written in the Stars (a bit Inception/weird, but still happy)
- Love Like the Galaxy
- Love Like White Jade
- Love of Thousand Years (implied to be happy but it's unclear if the leads are in another dimension forever or will be able to one day return to the real world)
- Love You Seven Times
- Lovely Swords Girl (worst SLS I ever had but it's a happy ending for the leads and SML does survive)
- Maid Escort
- Maiden Holmes
- Marriage Badge (set in a historical script)
- Marry Me
- Marry Me, My Queen
- Meet You
- Men Zhu
- Mengfei Comes Across
- Miss the Dragon (open ending, happy if you watch the bonus epilogue)
- My Chinese Chic Boutique (set in a game so the ending is modern day)
- Ms. Cupid in Love (happy but the bonus eps make it even happier)
- My Bossy Wife /My Bossy Wife Season 2
- My Dear Brothers (happy but the bonus ep makes it even happier. There's some time travel at the beginning/end but otherwise historical)
- My Dear Destiny
- My Decoy Bride
- My Fantastic Mrs Right /My Fantastic Mrs Right Season 2
- My Heart
- My Lady General
- My Lucky Princess
- My Merman Brother
- My Queen (set in a historical game so the ending is modern day)
- My Sassy Princess
- My Uncanny Destiny (funniest drama I've ever watched)

- Oh! My Sweet Liar!
- Only Love You
- Oops! The King Is in Love
- Order of the Sommelier (partially modern day with a happy ending there)
- Please Don’t Spoil Me (there are five seasons all connected, FL enters her own book which is historical, the last season is modern day and ends happily)
- Princess at Large (season 1 ends happily and can be watched alone, 2 &3 are the same actor/different actress and tell a new story for the couple and end happily, too)
- Qing Luo
- Rebirth for You
- Renascence
- Rewriting Destiny
- Romance of a Twin Flower
- Sassy Beauty (set in a historical game so the ending is modern day)
- Scent of Love
- Song of Youth
- Su Yu
- Supervisor Husband (set in a historical game, happy ending in modern day but kind of a weird epilogue at the end)
- The Blessed Bride
- The Blue Whisper (implied to be happy)
- The Dreamlike Seal
- The Eternal Love (all 3 seasons)
- The Everlasting Love
- The Fox Fairy (implied to be happy)
- The Journey of Flower (sort of - the leads get a happy ending with amnesia, but almost everyone else dies)
- The Killer Is Also Romantic
- The Lady in Butcher's House
- The Legendary Life of Queen Lau
- The Legends (NOTE: It is a happy ending, but since it was re-edited last minute from the planned tragic ending it's a bit choppy)
- The Little Wife of the General (time travel so a bit of modern day)
- The Long Ballad
- The Love by Hypnotic
- The Only Girl You Haven't Seen / The Only Girl You Haven't Seen Season 2
- The Origin of Eternity
- The Queen of Attack (season 1 ends happily and stands alone, season 2 is open/implied to be happy, parially modern day)

Just wow! I feel like I have got enough suggestions for a lifetime of C-dramas (of course not)!

I hope you find something you enjoy! :D It's rare for me to see other people who like historicals so I tend to go overboard, haha.
