My recommendation is My Golden Life. One of the main characters, Ji-An, is a tough and independent woman. The acting in the series is excellent so far, each character has their distinct personality and I feel like they play their role very well. There is romance in the show as well, I haven't gotten that far into to know who is with who though.
The only reason I dropped it is because it being a weekend drama, and they tend to have unexpected plot twists. I encountered one of those twists early on, which threw me off a bit. However, I might consider picking it back up if I can't find anything else to watch.
