can yall suggest me A drama in which the female lead (FL) ends up with a guy she was 'not destined' to be with. Hear me out: this scenario has nothing to do with the male lead (ML) or secondary male lead (SML). The guy could be ML, SML, or TML; I don’t mind. The theme should revolve around this:

Guy 1 and FL are meant to be together, as in soulmates. Soulmates can connect in various ways. Perhaps they were long-lost lovers, or they embody the ultimate power couple. It could resemble a story like "Nisekoi," where Guy 1 and FL promised to marry when they grew up, only to struggle to find each other later in life. Alternatively, it could take place in a fantasy setting where Guy 1 and FL are linked through multiple past lives and cross paths once again in the present. Think of star-crossed lovers, or a scenario similar to "Witch's Love," where Guy 1 is supposed to be FL’s lifeline, and vice versa. Maybe FL has been searching for someone she fell in love with years ago and finally finds him, or they could be bound by the red thread of fate, like in "The Vampire Diaries." There could even be elements of imprinting or one true love.

However, FL does NOT end up with Guy 1 but with Guy 2 instead, who shares no such connection with her. A role reversal could also work, where ML is soulmates with Girl 1 but ends up with Girl 2.

Is there any drama like that? I’m stuck on this scenario in my head and would love some recommendations.

Here are some dramas that fit this theme:

  1. Nisekoi: The ML had promised to marry SFL when they were children, sealing their promise with a lock and key toy. Fast forward to high school, where ML and FL must pretend to date to satisfy their respective mafia families. ML doesn’t know SFL is his promised girl, but he is madly in love with her. Meanwhile, SFL is also infatuated with ML without realizing their shared history. FL starts falling for ML, and although SFL and ML never confess their feelings, ML eventually falls out of love with SFL and marries FL, even after discovering SFL was his childhood promise.

  2. Witch's Love: The FL comes from a family of witches. Her life can only be secured by staying close to her destined magical soulmate (SML). Yet, she falls for ML and defies everyone to be with him.

  3. The Vampire Diaries: Many are familiar with the series, but in the books, Elena and Stefan are truly soulmates in the literal sense, not just out of respect. However, Elena ultimately chooses Damon.

  4. My Ambulance: While it differs somewhat from the other three, FL and ML share a magical bond that allows ML to teleport to FL whenever she calls him. Their relationship becomes strained 15 years later when ML becomes overly absorbed in work, neglecting FL, despite his deep love for her. Suddenly, a younger colleague of ML's gains the same teleportation ability, leading to complications in FL's life, and she decides to stay with SML by the end of the series.

Dear Mayang Street - ML seems to be the FL's soulmate in every way, they grew up together and were each other's first loves, but she ends up with the SML.

Who Are You -SML seems to be FL's soulmate but she ends up with the ML

Princess Silver (maybe?) SML was FL's true love pre amnesia but she ends up with the ML

Thanks for answering.

  • Bossam: Steal the Fate FL was supposed to get engaged to SML whom she had known and loved since childhood. But, it was suddenly changed to be his older brother who died on the day on their wedding, making her a widow. She lived at SML's home, loving and being loved from a distance by SML. However, in the end, FL ends up bossamed by ML. Their shared adventure makes them closer and they end up falling for each other.
  • Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency ML and SML were childhood friends, and SML promised to always be there for her. They considered each family, along with SML's father. SML goes to the Marriage Agency to have his marriage to FL arranged, only to be kidnapped the morning of his wedding day. SML's actual identity is revealed to him but he keeps trying to ensure that his promised marriage can still happen. He had the agency take care of FL who would otherwise be homeless. In the end, FL and ML form a bond and she uses him over SML. She is not being shallow, just pragmatic that she would never fit into this world.

Because of Love the 2nd couple. It's beautifully done but quite sad since (major spoiler) the second couple doesn't get together even after they seemed to have found their way back.

All Out of Love you can see it from miles away but still a bit painful.

Queen of Reversals I watched this a long time ago so I'm a bit fuzzy on the details. But there's some kind of switcheroo happening and I remember sitting beside myself, watching in disbelief.

The Master's Sun although a pretty minor and last minute addition to the plot.

When a Man's in Love is badly acted but fits

Bromance Great drama!
