Hello!

I have been a big fan of J-dramas for years but I have trouble finding a Korean drama that would capture my interest from the first episode and hold it til the end. To be honest, there are just two K-dramas I was able to finish (Coffee Prince and Full House) and even with these - let´s say highly rated and generally popular dramas - I had trouble to get through some slower episode (I almost gave up on Coffee Prince because so many episodes concentrated on a boring beta-couple).

Tropes/characters I would prefer to avoid: 1) a heroine that is too stupid/naive, 2) a jerky main lead who almost never gets called out of his terrible behaviour, 3) a shallow villainous bitch who gets in a way of the main couple because she´s super-evil

Anyway, I was wondering if you would help me find a nice, addictive romantic comedy, doesn´t have to be all "sunshine and daisies" but nothing too dark, please. (I am currently contemplating starting My Princess or maybe The Master´s Sun, thoughts?)

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

- Ela

Hm... it's kinda hard to know what you will like because most of those things you don't like are in most kdramas... but I hope these are something you will like... but I'm not sure...

Yes, The Master's Sun is a good option, I recommend it.

Trying to stay away from those tropes you mentioned, here are some other options:

The Reply series: 1997, 1994, 1988 ....I'd recommend watching them in that order because there are spoilers/cameos if you watch them out of sync. They have none of those tropes you wanted to avoid and are pretty touching/realistic/artsy in how they are presented. I'm currently on Reply 1988 and I like it a lot. :) They're also really funny too.

Descendants of the Sun - it's currently airing still, but it's pretty enjoyable and addictive.

A Gentleman's Dignity

Healer - REALLY addictive.

I Hear Your Voice - the heroine is a lawyer, she's definitely not dumb.

It's Okay, That's Love

Kill Me, Heal Me

Oh My Ghost

Pinocchio

Splash Splash LOVE - It's only 2 episodes, but it's SOOOO good

The Greatest Love

Witch's Romance

You Who Came From the Stars

Master's Sun
Oh My Venus
Noble My Love
Hi

I second 'The Master's Sun' and also recommend
'Heart to Heart;,
'Ex- Girlfriend Club' , '
Discovery of Romance' and
'Marriage not Dating'.

I hope you enjoy,
Luna
I recommend watching Master's Sun also! It's hilarious.

Here's my recommendations:
>Falling For Innocence
>Cunning Single Lady
>She was pretty
>You who came from the stars
>The Lover
>Sassy Go Go/ Cheer Up
>Secret Garden
>Flower Boy Next Door
>Fated to Love you
>One more happy ending

I hope one of these dramas will capture your interest! Enjoy watching! :D
I didn't watch My Princess so i'll automatically recommend you The Master's Sun.. it's very worth watching..
And I suggest you this list:
It's Okay That's Love (that one may totally fulfil your request, it's one of the best kd in my opinion)
Splash Splash Love (despite it's only a 2 episodes mini-drama, it's really funny, interesting and refreshing)
Reply 97-94-88 (the good thing about these series is that there is almost no villains)
Secret (It was the best melodrama i've ever watched, once, but I watched better ones now :D however, it's still one of the best)
Oh My Ghost (a veery very good rom-com), and Healer..
I hope you enjoy ^^
The Master's Sun is really addicting, you should watch it. :)

Other good rom-coms:

Marriage not dating (the heroine is not the normal timid/stupid girl)
The Greatest Love
Pinocchio

These 3 are the only dramas which I remember now. No super evil 3rd wheel. No stupid heroine. Enjoy!!!

Pinocchio and descendants of sun
