I love a wide variety of dramas from the cheesiest romcoms to complicated political historical dramas and I've been diving more deeply into the wonderful world of Chinese dramas of late but what makes me insane is the dubbing. I've read the reasons, they don't really make sense to me but at the very least why can't they put some thought or effort into HOW they dub? Why make adult women dub teenage girl voices like they're sucking helium and then shrieking all of their lines at high speed?
Can I get some recommendations for Chinese shows where the dubbing is either non-existent, minimal or more skillfully handled? For instance Rise of the Phoenix was fantastic. I could even deal with the dubbing in shows like 10,000 Miles except for the kid's voices. Slow down, use some vocal dynamics and quit it with the grown ups doing kid voices. Too many good shows marred by bad dubbing.
