- I know you didn't ask for genderbenders, but I would still recommend 'Sungkyunkwan Scandal'. It is one of the best series I know and it has a lot more depth than a lot of the other genderbenders, with good plots beside the whole male-female thing. It is really romantic too.

- If a movie is okay too, I think of 200 pound beauty. Its about an overweight woman who deceides to do plastic surgery and becomes very beautiful. But nobody must find out who she was before. It is a lot better than it actually sounds. Also romance.

- Perhaps Arang and the Magistrate might somewhat fall in your category. She is a ghost and she doesn't know herself who she is. She has to find out, together with a stubborn but cute magistrate who can see her.

- A movie again, but I just love this one. It is more sad than the other ones I mention here, so that might be a turn-off. But it really is very beautiful with great acting, breathtaking nature and a romantic story.
