I just finished a drama that was mostly very enjoyable, but with one main frustration: the ML was often secretive and hid information from the FL when he thought it would worry her or might make her lose interest in him. He continued to be this way even after she did a good job of reassuring him and asked him to trust her / be more honest.

Please recommend dramas with good romance where the main leads are honest with each other and have enough trust in each other to share their problems with one another.

No problem if one of the dramas you think of is one I've seen already. I might do a re-watch ^^

If you're a fan of japanese dramas , I really liked Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo and felt like the main couple grew to really trust each other ! (minor spoiler : i know u dont like mean guys and i dont either but the ml isnt as mean as i thought he would be)

For chinese dramas I liked,   Love Me If You Dare had a really cute trusting relationship as well!

I am currently watching Love Me If You Dare, if you are into chinese dramas, you're gonna enjoy this one. If you rather korean dramas, I recommend you to watch Her Private Life (it's already on your watchlist and you rated it as a 9.5) or Good-bye, Mr. Black.

Love 020- Chinese drama

I think I definitely need to re-watch Love O2O. The drama that prompted this ask (Lucky's First Love) is actually very similar in a lot of ways, but it was definitely missing the trust that the ML had in the FL!

Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo was sort of on my radar (I've seen a few very cute gifsets of the main couple) but I put it on my Not Interested list because of the FL as much as the ML. Based on the synopsis, it sounds like the FL is the type that would give me major secondhand embarrassment. But if you found that the ML's personality was not what you expected, did you find that the synopsis was misleading?

I wasn't able to get past episode 4 of Love Me if You Dare and episode 7 of Good-Bye, Mr. Black. Crime and revenge dramas are quite hit-or-miss for me, I find.

Good point with Her Private Life. When I scanned my watchlist I was thinking about how the FL in that one hid her secret, and the ML initially wasn't open about his trauma / why he was buying the paintings, but you're right that later on they were good about opening up and trusting each other. I'll add it to my re-watch list ^^

Thank you @mikrla20, @Rina, and @pamn for the recommendations!

Though it's a long drama, please don't be scared of the number of episodes, because when you start it, you may find that this drama couple are EXACTLY what you've been looking for!

Drama name- Ugly Alert

Na Do Hee and Gong Jun Soo may become the best answer of your recommendation.

I really really recommend you this drama, its so addicting, first few episodes start slow but thats just for story development only.

At first, I was also hesitant in starting it bevsuse of its length, now its become TOP 10 of my dramas.

There are some dramas where the main leads are honest with each other and have enough trust in each other. I tried my best to remember and I found these dramas that fitted the best. I hope this will help!

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon

Be Melodramatic

Fight For My Way

What's Wrong With Secretary Kim

Her Private Life

Thirty but Seventeen

Healer

Oh My Venus

And if you are hesitating whether you should watch Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made Mo or not I assure you that FL is not that clingy in a cringy way...I thought she will be similar to FL in Itazura na Kiss Love in Tokyo (Playful Kiss) but she was different and I liked her character and it didn't give me second hand embarassment. I was suprised but Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made Mo is now one of my top dramas!

Thank you Little Cherry. It sounds like the drama you're recommending is Ugly Alert? May I ask where you watched it? It isn't available on Viki or Netflix in my country.

This is very helpful! That was exactly my worry - that she would be like the FL in Playful Kiss. You and Rina have convinced me I should try it ^^

I will also move Be Melodramatic up on my PTW list!

THIRTY BUT SEVENTEEN

Yeah its ugly alert. Each episode is 35 min long only. I watched it on kissasian/Drama cool. Since it isn't available in viki and Netflix..

It's not that I found the synopsis particular misleading,  but it was more so that I was comparing the ml to the mls from other stereotypical tsundere dramas. Compared to other "enemies to lovers" tropes like boys over flowers I would say the ml is a lot more mature and nice! But I would def say try an episode or two to see if the drama incites strong second-hand embarrassment for you. :)

Also agree with re-watching Her Private life but also Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo !! The intimacy and communication in both those dramas was super cute

That makes sense :) Oh it's been so long since I last watched WFKBJ. You're right, I definitely should do a rewatch!

tbh I don't remember which drama prompted this ask. In May 2020 the M/F romance dramas I watched were A Piece of Your Mind, Meow, the Secret Boy, The Legends, Lucky's First Love and Lupin no Musume. If I had to guess I'd say it was most likely either APYM or MSB.

Edit: realized that (luckily!) I answered this question above already ^^

 AH :
The drama that prompted this ask Lucky's First Love

Not a Korean drama though.

The Rebel Princess that's the best loving, understanding couple I've seen their growth, love, and understanding is amazing
