• I think modern Japanese royalty is a very much not up for audience consumption, even news on them are very much censored. So most likely any stories/dramas would be heavily prohibited. the only near modern drama that mentions royals in jdrama is "Tenno no Ryoriban". and that was a period drama.

Goong S sounds strange to me, so low rating, not sure I want to waste time. Loved Goong though, so I am tempted... but the reasoning part of my brain says "no".

Yes, I know royalty is a strange topic in some countries, like Japan I guess. And I think as long as it's hundreds of years ago, China censors don't mind about forbidden city dramas. Thailand is a kingdom, so I guess they don't have much flexibility. Only I think S-korea or Taiwan have the freedoms in e-asia.
