I'm wondering if there is a drama where the main characters are from 'lower' rank in the army. So NOT a general, but instead the horse feeders, cooks or cleaners etc. Is there a drama like that? Mostly I see dramas where the mains are either generals, army members or doctors, but I was looking for something a bit more different.

I'm afraid I can't think of any dramas that focus on "horse feeders, cooks or cleaners" in the army, but I can think of a few that focus on soldiers-in-training, lower-ranked soldiers, soldiers that start in a low rank and work their way up to a higher rank, or members of a military campaign that become POWs:

  • D.P. - During the ML's mandatory service (in modern day South Korea), he is recruited into the Deserter Pursuit (DP) division.
  • Just Friends? - Short drama special. BL. One of the MLs is on leave from his mandatory service (in modern day South Korea).
  • Arsenal Military Academy - The leads are students in officer training in China during the Republican era.
  • Crash Landing on You - The ML is a captain in the North Korean army (modern day). His squad members are also central characters.
  • Mr. Sunshine - The ML works his way up from the lower ranks to the position of captain in the US army and then temporary / acting consul for the US legation in Korea in the early 20th century.
  • Descendants of the Sun - The ML is the captain of a special forces unit in the South Korean army (modern day).
  • The Story of Ming Lan - During the drama, the ML works his way up from a low-level soldier to a top general.
  • Mulan - Movie. The FL (dressed as a man) works her way up from a low-ranking soldier to a general in ancient China.
  • The Imperial Doctress - The ML is an emperor and the FL is a doctor, but they (along with a number of regular soldiers under the ML's command) become prisoners of war for a fair portion of the drama.
