Many people don't like the updated plot, complaining that Da Meixia's departure is a deliberate abuse of the heroine, saying that Lost Laughter is essentially a love-boy drama disguised as a love-girl drama, and that the screenwriter just wrote Da Meixia to death to push Gu Yi and Liang Daiwen to the same platform to understand each other. But I don't think so.

Shen Yue said in an interview that there are many "farewells" in this drama. Gu Yi began to meet Liang Daiwen because of the talk show, and began to have a story.

The first farewell was the failure of promotion. Gu Yi said goodbye to the long-awaited future of moving out of the four-person shared apartment. For a girl who is drifting in Beijing, a chance of promotion can make her get rid of the current situation and move towards a better future, but her farewell is a farewell to the expected future. But she did not get discouraged, probably because she had no choice. Gu Yi always worked hard. Even if the difficulties in life made her tearful, she always waited optimistically for a day to come out.

The second farewell was to Ounces. Gu Yi loved talk shows, which could be seen from the fact that she worked hard during the day and had to perform at Ounces at night. Da Meixia sang the last duo in Ounces that night. I remember she told everyone that she still had a good daughter, Gu Yi, in this life. I am very grateful that the screenwriter did not shoot the scene of such a kind mother lying on the hospital bed and unable to recover. Later in the story, even though Da Meixia was suffering from cancer, she was always smiling and accompanying Gu Yi and Liang Daiwen. At the end of her life, she still traveled happily and truly lived her own life. In fact, I like this way of interpretation. Before a mother becomes a mother, she must be herself first, and the last thing she thinks of is her children, because she is just worried that her departure will make her children too sad and miserable. So Da Meixia said that she did not want to erect a monument, she wanted her ashes to be scattered in the sea, and she wanted Gu Yi and Liang Daiwen to know that every time the wind blows the waves, the gentle breeze is the mother's hand caressing them.

Life is always learning how to say goodbye, and those moments when you lose your smile are the price of growing up. But I hope that everyone can find a way to make themselves smile again, which may be a talk show, the company of friends, a well-intentioned leader in the workplace, or the person who walks into your life one day.
