Adding to custom lists

Hello, is there a way to add new entries to the custom lists to the top of the list? It seems to be either bottom by default or alphabetical, and neither is convenient! Dragging an entry from the bottom to the top of a list is time-consuming and impractical!  I haven't found any other way around it yet! Help please!
