Please spoil the story here for me

it's trash but everyone seems to love it - so this politician guy marries the sister of the person he wanted to marry because she left him and he didn't want the scandal to get out. The fill in sister who marries him is 'mute' but only for episode 1 which is terrible writing ploy. Any way, she's kidnapped, he doesn't care/tell kidnapper to kill her/she gets away and steals his untraceable cell phone. Not surprising at all but the wife uses the kidnappers phone to try to escape the marriage by threatening him to divorce her. But then there's this weird dichotomy between her hating him/wanting out of the marriage/still wants him. Then there's awkward times of slow mo 'oo things are kinda romantic sorta close' which is obviously teasing them eventually getting together - boring. There's a lot of ableism too.

Are you sure you are watching When The Phone Rings, What you told you about the plot is nothing they are showing in the show.

First of all, the marriage with sister was to form alliance, He was not marrying her because he is in love with her.  And Heeju was never mute 'MUTE', She had selective mutism. Then She got kidnapped, Its not that He doesn't care. He asked her mother and her mother in law, Her mother in law said she was with her. And you will say, then why he didn't call HHJ if  He really cared, So HHJ can't speak due to her mutism. And Heeju mother said she was with her. So he thought it's a voice phishing scam.

Now lets talk about your points about dichotomy, Here she took kidnapper phone to get out of this marriage of convenience, In first episode she was desperate to get out of this marriage, but through all the phone calls she is making through kidnappers phones, She is learning many new things, Where she is finding out that Saeon is not like how he presented himself infront of her.

Here the plot is about how these two individual who lived as show window, starts to open up and show their true feelings.

I don't think you will continue watching the show as you don't like it, but if you are continuing. Try to watch the show when you are not high. So you can think some sense while watching the show...

Please spoil the story here for me

The story focuses on the complex emotional growth between Baek Sa Eon and Hong Hee Joo. The thriller element is the conflict catalyst of the show, that forces the couple to confront hidden truths, unspoken emotions, and unresolved issues in their relationship. The threatening situations that heightens the stakes, pushing the characters to their emotional limits and allowing their vulnerabilities, fears, and strengths to surface.

Sa Eon's controlling demeanor masks a deep affection for Hee Ju, which becomes increasingly apparent as he starts prioritizing her safety and well-being . Meanwhile, Hee Ju's silence and enigmatic actions slowly unravel as she allows herself to trust Sa Eon again, revealing her pain and motivations. Through shared adversity and an understanding of each other's traumas, their bond evolves into one of mutual respect and love. This journey of healing transforms their once-strained marriage into a partnership built on genuine connection, culminating in a satisfying resolution that balances romance and redemption.

How do I feel? If I hadn't become so invested in the story, I wouldn't be so pissed off about it now!

I was really enjoying it until yesterday. The weak scriptwriting things which usually bother me weren't really bothering me at all. That is, until the show revealed PDJ's role as villain, glossing over his crimes and violence against innocent victims who never did him wrong as if anybody would do the same in his place, because he is so very sad, deep inside. Bygones.

I get they were hiding his role as a culprit, but no sane normal person can do what he did and not be shook, have ptsd, remorse. Instead he is shown to be a complete sociopath. Worse, the ML and FL don't seem bothered by his violent attacks at all, yet I do.

So at this point I'm pulled out of the story. I only came to these discussion boars hoping to read some spoilers from the novel how that ends so I can drop this and be done with it.

PDJ partners with real BSE avenge his dead brother by inflicting violence on the FL to hurt the ML who he thinks is real BSE.

We are told the psycho killed PDJ's twin brother. Maybe this is true. But who knows? Maybe it was the grandfather who killed the orphans. Another twist like that wouldn't surprise me at this point.

I haven't read the novel. I came here looking for spoilers from the novel about the ending. But there is nothing.

The TV Series also said BSE harmed fish, pets before moving on to other kids. But that was his grandfather talking. Who's to say he was speaking truthfully? We didn't see BSE doing anything to animals or children. We saw him cut up a fish which is nothing.  We actually saw grandfather drowning a child which is huge.
