After watching Fangs of Fortune, I couldn't watch anything else for quite a while. So I tried to figure out what aspects made the viewing experience so engaging and meaningful for me and looked for dramas that could contain some of them. I had previously watched The Blood of Youth and Mysterious Lotus Casebook, both great dramas with deep friendships and a good story. So I looked for new ones. Only a few could pique my interest. Today I would like to recommend The Land of Warriors to those who love a story with a "found family" and a friendship that sticks together through thick and thin. Of course, it's not a FoF, but it helps with the longing for the aspects mentioned. I hope others will share their suggestions.

Oh, I do love myself dramas focused on found family and friendship and I'm constantly looking for them. Definitely going to give a try to The Land of Warriors.

May I add Ancient Detective for c-dramas built around those themes? It's a very low budget short drama, but they did more than good with what they had. Not much of a fan of the romance in it, although it's not particularly focused on and one can easily pretend it's not even there,  but the found family vibes are * chef's kiss *.

It's sort of a mix between The Blood of Youth and Mysterious Lotus Casebook,  since we got a group of very different young people coming together and solving cases.

Now, inspired by your addition, I remembered The Sleuth of Ming Dynasty. There is a very sympathetic found family there and much better than in most dramas out there. Check this first, when you did not watch it already. ;-)

I haven't watched it already, but it's in my plans

Thank you for this topic 🤍 I really like dramas with friendship as the main theme, yet good ones are hard to come by. Haven't seen Ancient Detective and Sleuth of Ming Dynasty and they sound interesting. So thanks for recommending.

Also I second Blood of Youth. The comraderie is admirable. And I agree. Mysterious Lotus Casebook is enjoyable for those who like selfless MC or like two leads' teacher-desciple like relationship.

In case anyone hasn't watched Till The End of The Moon, the cinematography in that is amazing. ML is also a vessel for the world's dark energy. Romance is the main theme tho. So no-romance folk might not like it. but it's a beautiful drama.

Since you suggested Land of Warriors, Is it alright if I recommend watching Soul Land anime (donghua) after that? Although it's 3D animation, I think the fight choreography, beautiful graphics and friendship (more like kinship tbh) of Shrek7 will appeal to those who enjoyed FOF.

I already watched most dramas mentioned here except for blood of youth and land of warriors! I will try both these soon 😂

I recommend Gaurdians of Dafeng but this one is pure comedy, ML is smart & very OP. There is not much romance so other who like romance might not like it, but this drama is good and they are friends too although friendship is not same here in FOF.

After FoF I couldn't watch any drama, although I have a long "plan to watch" list, none of them seems to be appealing to heal my broken heart. I didn't want to get emotionally envolved with another drama.
After seeing the trailer and reading the comments on Guardians of the Dafeng, I tried it and it's working for me because it's light and it's a comedy. So far it's making me laugh, so it's healing me.

I also recommned "Blood of Youth" for those who like friendship, but I advice to watch it as a stand alone and not as a sequel to "Dashing Youth", because some of the timing and narrative doesn't correspond.

Is Guardians of Dafeng promising? I added it on my watch list nearly the moment they created a page about it, but I have yet to come around and give it a try.

Like what Freezias said above it is light and comedic 😂 I laugh a lot when watching episodes, so it is really good but I think it will also depend on your type of humor it might be a miss for some. There is not much romance though but you will enjoy it! do give it a try ❤️

If you cannot tolerate "slapstick" or "spoiled princess" (who I think will change in future episodes) or if you like very serious and logical storyline, skip it, because it sometimes even has modern element in it since the ML is from modern time.
However, if you are a person who watch a drama with an open mind, I will highly recommend you to give a try. I am really enjoying it so far. Wang Hedi is perfect for this type of role.

I can't stand spoiled characters much, but I also love seeing them grow into a better person and just become more pleasant to be around, so I guess I'll take the risk lol

I am indeed more into serious dramas (or just dramas that don't require me turning off all of my brain cells), but I'm also open enough to give a try to many shows and it takes a lot for me to drop something altogether.

(And I do need something easy and silly to discract myself, so we have a winner!)

The lack of romance is very fine by me and when it comes to humour what really gets a laugh out of me is the delivery rather than the joke itself (I repeated so many scenes in Joy of Life because of this).

It's really all about facial expressions and tone of voice. I'm a simple soul like that.

Oh, then I would love to read your feedback after you start watching it because many who have watched JOL were complaining in the comment section. I think it's not reasonable to compare 2 different dramas. I haven't watched JOL as yet but I am sure each has their uniqueness.

Let us know your opinion later

Of course homaKP, I also would like to recommend the Soul Land donghua! :-) After watching The Land of Warriors, I went for the donghua as I got smitten with the story itself. Donghuas weren't my cup of tea before, but now I like them.
