Dramas and Movies I Didn't Like or Absolutely Hated
I think my basic rule for this list, other than the title itself, should be that I had to have rated it 7/10 stars or less.
-
1. Fujimi Orchestra
Japanese Movie - 2012
Trash. Literal trash. I regret the time I spent watching this. It was a waste of the precious minutes I had left on this earth. Don't waste your time on this.
If you want to know why I hated this so much, check out my review for the movie.
I'd give this 0/10 stars if I could.
-
2. Satyriasis
Thai Movie - 2021
What the fuck did I just watch?!
Also, just no to whatever the hell that ending and "explanation" was. -
3. Coffee & Vanilla
Japanese Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
This is the first drama I'm rating 1/10. I just cannot think of anything redeeming about it whatsoever, any reason to recommend it to anyone, anything positive or so-bad-it's-good at all: Not even the Queer rep (one of my reasons for completing this).
The FL is a shivering bunny rabbit, a blob, a glob of jello with nary a spine to speak of who is there to be molded, shaped, and manipulated as anyone would like, without protest.
Every side character either wants to steal the ML from her or assault/force their feelings onto her. And after she inevitably gets saved by her "Knight in Shining Armor," she then forgives/apologizes to her assaulter and/or apologizes for being assaulted. Yay! Victim-blaming! ?*feel the intensity of my sarcasm*
And the ML? He is the "perfect" man. Except--wait--he's not. He's the walking, talking, living embodiment of a red flag. He lies, pressures, manipulates, and is toxic and overly possessive of the FL.
In other words, this is flaming hot garbage I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole again, not even if you paid me. -
4. My Friendship
Thai Movie - 2020
Why did I watch this? Because it was short and popped up in my YouTube recommendations. That's why.
-
5. Addicted
Chinese Drama - 2016, 15 episodes
Annoying, forced (literal meaning), and boring.
-
6. Hit Bite Love
Thai Drama - 2023, 6 episodes
I don't even know where to begin. It was just shit.
I'm embarrassed that I started it and upset at my inability to drop it.
-
7. Social Death Vote
Thai Drama - 2018, 6 episodes
NOT WORTH WATCHING
So much went wrong with this drama. Things don't make sense and the main characters' motivations aren't clear. He's filming people without their consent or knowledge when they are inappropriately dressed and/or engaging in sexual activities. Okay, we got that part.
But it's not shown that he's doing it because these specific people said mean things about Best online until almost the end. And even then, he enjoys it too much for it to just be revenge for the comments they left. Rather, it makes it seem like he just gets some sick joy out of seeing people suffer. And yet, the drama still tries to frame him in some sympathetic light? But, by the end he's the worst person objectively!
The other big problem here is that there are scenes missing! The "previously" part will have scenes/shots that didn't happen in the last episode and don't happen in the current one. And they are all important scenes! Only during the last episode are just a couple of them shown. That's it. And they are only a few seconds long when they should be expanded on.
If they did this to have it be "artistic" or like a mystery where you piece things together, they failed miserably. It's like the editor and/or producer fell asleep while working on this and just said "screw it."
And if the intent behind this was to show the dangers of social media and the immensely dangerous power of anonymity/cyber-bullying, they failed there as well. By the end you walk away wondering why you watched this, thinking the ML is a disgusting person and criminal who took his anger on the online world out into the real world, and siding with the commenters who bullied Best in comparison to ever cheering Q on for "getting back at them." -
8. HIStory: Obsessed
Taiwanese Special - 2017, 4 episodes
Yeah . . . No explanation necessary why this is here.
-
9. My Toxic Lover
Filipino Drama - 2021, 7 episodes
Technically NOT DROPPED anymore.
I hate to drop things. I really do. But, I'm 6 episodes in and I'm just not feeling this.
I held out this long because I liked Aki Torres in My Day and wanted to support his next series.
But if I get to the point where it feels like work to get through an episode of a drama and I'm not looking forward to the next one (like today), then I don't think I should feel guilty for dropping it.
I think the main issue here was directing and writing. The sets are grand, the colors pop, the lighting is good, and you can tell the actors are really trying. But, if it's a bad script and the direction is bad then it's just not going to work. And I think that's what happened here.
This hurts me to say I'd give this a 5/10. But, it just hurt to watch.Update: I finished it because I wanted to give Worth the Wait a shot. And because I am a masochist apparently. I am happy to say Worth the Wait, so far, is a bit better than this series.
-
10. Kiss Me Again
Thai Drama - 2018, 14 episodes
Just . . . terrible people. And, more specifically, terrible people who shouldn't be in relationships/force others to be in a relationship with them.
I was hoping one of the straight couples would be decent at the very least, but no. I was enjoying one of the FL's at first but then they ruined her as well. Pete and Kao were the only intriguing and actually entertaining part of this. Everything else made me feel pain. SO much pain.In conclusion: Just watch the Pete and Kao cut. Trust me.
-
11. Worth the Wait
Filipino Drama - 2021, 13 episodes
Yes, I did watch it.
I am happy to say Worth the Wait is a bit better than (I guess the first part of) My Toxic Lover (MTL).I think one of the reasons WHY is that Ethon and Martin feel more built up and have a bit more believable tension and chemistry. One of the things I didn't like about MTL was that it took so long to have Ethon and Bryce actually meet, and when they got together it felt like it came out of nowhere and also the way they did it was out of character for them, plus they didn't have good chemistry.
Among many many other problems with them as well as with production in general and other side characters.
However, Worth the Wait was by no means good or great. The first few episodes or so actually had some promise as Ethon and Martin's banter and back and forth was fun. There were a few times I actually felt . . . Charmed . . . And invested? Believe it or not, yes.
Throughout this the other issues present in the first series persisted and eventually took over again. The lines and directing given to the actors weighed any positives down, the pacing was tediously slow, side characters were bland and badly acted; and the lighting, camerawork, and cuts were still way below standard.
I did like the song Martin sang, the first few episodes were actually pretty okay, Martin and Ethon did have some good moments where their chemistry shined, and there was one scene in a later episode that shocked me with how artistic it was. However, those were really the only positives.
I had to watch this on 2x speed eventually as I couldn't stand the bad acting, pacing, cringe, etc. The ending was also completely ridiculous.
A disappointing 5.5/10.
-
12. Physical Therapy
Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
It started off pretty okay. It was slow, but charming.
It didn't take long for the side characters to seem entirely pointless though.
And different plot points were just randomly introduced out of nowhere only to not be fleshed out or brought back up again! There was also a time skip for NO reason! WHAT WAS THE REASON?!!! ???
The writing is what ultimately failed here. Someone must have been high as hell when they wrote this.
When I got to the last episode, I found myself asking: What was the point of this drama? Was it Ever actually trying to say something?
*thinking about the time I wasted* -
13. Hometown's Embrace
Thai Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
How to put this? I feel bad that this was bad.
Sometimes it was okay but mostly it was cringey. I could tell that the actors were at least trying, but they didn't do well at all.
Other than the acting, the pacing was weird, jokes never really landed, the story was all over the place, and what were supposed to be emotional lines/moments didn't feel emotional. -
14. Love Is Like a Cat
Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
It gave . . . Nothing. I couldn't get invested or find it within me to care about the story or any of the characters in the slightest.
This could have been basic but sweet and warm, at the very least, like Tasty Florida or Ocean Like Me. But no, they couldn't even do that.
Side Note: Those magic translating earbuds were SO convenient they drove me insane. Never was the language barrier a problem at all!
Just skip it. Don't bother. I wasted my time FOR you.Can be found on Rakuten Viki
-
15. Big Dragon
Thai Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
I'm only finishing this because I am a masochist drama-watcher. This is painful to watch. It is a car crash.
Thoughts after completion:
It looked nice?
I can't think of anything else positive to say. Oh! Well, there was a brief side Lesbian couple! Yeah . . . That's all I got ? *shrugs*
There were itty bitty teensy tiny pieces of a somewhat good drama that could have been. I feel like the writers and directors were really indecisive. They couldn't decide whether to have their characters be toxic and mysterious or sweet and silly. Like, you can have some of both but you have to do it well! Seems like they just couldn't make up their minds let alone execute their vision properly.
And the writing . . . It was just bad.
Another thing, I have to be honest, for the majority of the runtime the acting of the leads . . . Sucked. I generally put the onus on the director[s] for not directing them correctly. But even if they had I still think these actors just didn't know what to do with their faces or hands most of the time.
This is a definite skip from me.
Side Note: Really? The "wife" line again? Can't we let that die already?! -
16. Kiseki Chapter 2
Thai Drama - 2024, 6 episodes
*sigh* I never learn, do I? I need to take a serious lesson in dropping it like it's hot.
Another waste of my damn time. Other than to promote tourism in Japan, what was this even for? I don't feel I can say this was a romance drama because there really was no buildup or sense of romance, just sudden feelings that weren't really discussed and out-of-nowhere hookups. I also can't say this was a comedy, much as it tried to be one. The humor just doesn't land. And above all, everything felt awkward and forced.

19. In Your Heart
Chinese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
It's insanely rare and nothing short of a miracle to have anything LGBT+ related when it comes to China. It was enough reason for me to watch it so that we get more.
It didn't have a big budget, of course, but I liked it for the most part. I was going to give it a 7/10.
But, then... They went the route of Addicted. A.K.A. There was a forced scene.
I'm giving it a 6/10 trying to push that aside in my mind and act like it didn't happen. I shouldn't have to! Because why the hell did you guys have to do that? Why?
Things were going well. The group of friends was fun together, it was light-hearted, and the two MLs were sweet together.
You let about a minute of screen time taint an otherwise fine and enjoyable drama. What a waste. -
20. Color Rush Season 2
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
I feel bad that I'm giving it such a low rating. But this just didn't measure up and I have to be honest.
I'll try my best to explain why.
The first Color Rush was a combination of light horror and romance. It didn't solve the mystery it introduced, which felt disappointing, but it was great nonetheless.
It knew not to give up absolutely everything about this world with Monos and Probes. And its effects, music, narration, tone, and slow build made it believably "otherworldly." Plus, there was good chemistry between the MLs and a fascinating and twisted balance of power between them. There was mutual feelings and mutual obsession and tension at the mere possibility of them being around each other.
When people saw it they not only wanted the mystery solved/explored they wanted to see more of the unique world they created, right?
This second season fulfilled that wish. Incorrectly. It dumped too much of the world on the viewers and despite being about the same length as the original (about five minutes shorter each episode) constantly rushed through everything. There was no time to process, it was, "Let's get to the next scene." And, the action was weak, there wasn't any believable tension or weight to the story or characters' actions, sets and effects looked too cheap, and the writing wasn't up to par. Not to mention the ML didn't act like his character would have in his situation. I would expect him to have done something rash and/or be wallowing in misery. Rather than that, he seemed just a bit upset and to be going about life fine. Where was the despair? The agony?
And of course, writing out the other ML was the biggest reason this failed. But, we all knew that.
All in all, I'm disappointed but not surprised. -
21. Yuri Dano Kan Dano
Japanese Drama - 2019, 8 episodes
*Ahem* YOU. NEED TO. ASK. FOR. CONSENT.
Well, I knew what I was getting into when I started this for the "rep."
I'm actually going to seemingly do things backward and answer the question usually reserved for the end of my review: Do I recommend it? Absolutely not!
There is touching without consent, unprovoked inappropriate and suggestive jokes and comments that either border on or are definitively sexual harassment, completely inaccurate statements, definitions, and comments about any sexuality other than heterosexuality, and constant excusing of stereotyping, bullying, stalking, harassment, and emotional/physical abuse.
All in all, this was like toxic soup for my brain.
You know what? I don't want to elaborate any further! I'm tired and this was awful.Peace! Noir out!
-
22. The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese
Japanese Movie - 2020
There were some incredibly graphic scenes (when I say graphic, I mean Very graphic) I had to skip because they made me uncomfortable. Also, the main couple didn't seem to have very much chemistry. Now, that wouldn't generally be enough for me to dislike this movie. There are other things I disliked.
About a third of the way through I thought the story was going to go somewhere more interesting . But it never did. I was also disappointed that the main character seemingly never changed in any way. There wasn't really any growth or development. And the ending was rather disappointing.
There was a little interesting symbolism, a couple interesting moments, and some well-shot scenes. But, it wasn't worth watching. The actors aren't at fault here. It was the script and direction that made this movie fail for me.
I'll admit it, 4.5/10 was too harsh okay? I think 6/10 is more fitting and still fits my feelings about this movie.
-
23. The Warp Effect
Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
Where to start?
The positives:
#1.) The rep is not only varied but well done: We got a Trans SFL, a Nonbinary SL, a Queer SFL, a Lesbian SFL, and two Gay SMLs.
#2.) There are encouraged and detailed discussions about sex: education, positivity, protection, testing, pregnancy, positions, kinks, etc.
#3.) There are pro-body positivity, anti-outing, and feminist messages.
The negatives:
#1.) Non-con is not addressed properly, and there are inconsistent discussions about consent.
#2.) Alex.
#3.) Sometimes a good message comes across as preachy rather than genuine.
Overall this had the feel of a raunchy American TV Show, albeit with more education and not as explicit scenes. If that one scene/plot point didn't exist (if you've watched this, you know which one I mean), I would be rating this a 7.5/10; however, because that is in this drama, I cannot rate it that high in good conscious.
-
24. My Runway
Korean Drama - 2016, 6 episodes
Nothing really special here. Just something silly with too much cringe and awkward moments.
-
25. Happy Merry Ending
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
They got their "Happy Merry Ending," but what about the viewer?
First off, this should have been a movie. The pacing would still be absolutely ridiculous, but at least not as noticeable as in drama format. Not to mention, the characters' conflicts and feelings come and go whenever necessary but not in any flowing or sensical way.
Really, only these positives come to mind: The leads' pretty faces, nice singing voices, and good kissing scenes. Nothing else.
Near the end, I felt so detached I would liken it to the experience of an AI robot trying to understand human emotions.
I honestly wonder if they made this just for the OST; otherwise, I can't see a point in its existence.
This is definitely a skip, my friends. I finished it only because I felt obligated to. -

Korean Drama - 2024, 8 episodes
The way they played into Biphobic stereotypes, making it seem like Ajin couldn't help but cheat because "Oh, no, I love two people" just pissed me off more and more as time went on.
IF YOU WANT TO DATE TWO PEOPLE, YOU SIT DOWN AND HAVE AN HONEST FUCKING CONVERSATION WITH THEM.
And to end it all with just a slap on the wrist?

28. You Are Mine
Taiwanese Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
This was SUCH a disappointment! It didn't have a strong start, but the leads had chemistry, and it was charming and funny enough to make me look forward to the next episode. Then, the big third-act conflict hit, and the drama never recovered. I found myself annoyed by everything and everyone! Even ×2 speed didn't help matters. I'm sad to say that you can and SHOULD skip this one, my dear MDLers.

29. Death's Game Part 2
Korean Drama - 2024, 4 episodes
Here's the thing: I HATE what this drama says about suicide. It basically tells anyone who's suicidal to rethink their decision because it's "selfish." That they would be a selfish person for experiencing deep suffering/depression and not being able to take anymore. That their loved ones being in despair due to their passing is more important than what they're going through. Fucking excuse me?
First off, fuck that message. What a shitty and inaccurate thing to say. What's next? You're going to tell people with clinical depression not to be depressed because they're bringing down the mood?!
Second off, saying that is not even helpful. You shouldn't be convincing someone to live for others because what happens when those people are no longer around? A person needs to learn to live for themself.
This all felt like a demeaning slap in the face to mental health and people's struggles generally. I was just waiting for someone to say, "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps."
The only thing I appreciated and enjoyed about this was the action. Because when it was all chase scenes, murders, and new, unique stories, it was legitimately entertaining. If this were about Death being some cruel game master and went more the route of Alice in Borderland, I would find it not only palatable but worthwhile to recommend. As it stands, due to its messaging, I can't. Skip this one, my dear MDLers. Can be found on free websites

31. Sweet Munchies
Korean Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
I have TOO much to say! So much that I can't get myself or my copious notes together to do a proper review. What I will say here is that I was very much disappointed with this drama and how it could have put forth a much better product and done more representation-wise with little effort. First off, they could have made Jin Sung's choice to lie more understandable: Put his father in a comma/have the surgery be more urgent, and make the hospital expenses much higher. Also, have him have in-depth talks with his brother, who is ACTUALLY part of the LGBT+ community.
Post about 4 Queer alternatives they could have easily taken Park Jin Sung's character (if they dared) to make him actually Queer, his lie less egregious, and completely fix the drama (I'd put it all here, but the darn character limit is stopping me!!!): https://mydramalist.com/profile/8835865/feeds/4ZplOTA
In conclusion, if you thought of watching this, I would recommend you don't. Unless you just want to skim through it for Kang Tae Wan's story, in which case, by all means. He was the saving grace of this drama, and his story was very well done.

32. Somebody
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
It was deeply unsettling and disturbing, and made me feel an uncomfortable crawling in my skin. Undeniably, it was well-acted and shot to have made me have such a visceral reaction to it. Beyond that, I don't see what I'm supposed to have gotten from this drama, if anything.
Can't say I'd recommend it, to anyone, really. Can be found on Netflix

33. Why R U?
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
Regarding my rating: Rating it any lower seriously feels like bullying, and my conscience simply won't allow it! *groans* Honestly, if I didn't feel guilty doing so, I would be rating it a 6 at the highest.
"Why R U?" No, seriously, like, why are you? Hearing the original Thai drama was going to get a Korean remake made me feel skeptical as to the quality, to say the least. Seeing it come to fruition, I could not even muster disappointment because, really, what did I expect anyway? To be pleasantly surprised? LMAO. The original drama already had its problems, but at least it had some semblance of a story and plot and sizzling chemistry to distract the viewers.
When I tell you, this made less than no sense! Just . . . Why? Trying to think of something nice to say feels like work. The kisses were better than some K-BLs? I don't know; that's all I can seem to come up with!

34. Wedding Impossible
Korean Drama - 2024, 12 episodes
Link to my review (my thoughts were too much for the word count to handle): https://mydramalist.com/profile/8835865/reviews/350443
The very short version: Wedding Impossible had potential. It had a bit of a unique premise, a wacky start promising some over-the-top fun, and the opportunity to say something/showcase Queer representation in a mainstream K-Drama. I don't have to tell you that it failed on all counts.

35. Good Morning Call
Japanese Drama - 2016, 17 episodes
Looking back, I don't really like this drama as much as I used to. And I definitely don't like this relationship anymore. I honestly can't believe I ever did. Before, I couldn't understand the more negative reviews I read about this show. But, I decided to rewatch it, and I can definitely see how messed up Uehara and Nao's relationship is.
Uehara almost never expresses his feelings, never really apologizes, waits too long to clear things up or never does, and doesn't pay enough attention to Nao.
Daichi summed it up best in season 1, episode 10: "What's wrong with you? Are you even thinking about Nao's feelings? If you make a promise, then keep it! You got her hopes and played with her feelings. She just giggles and brushes off whatever you say. Have you ever thought about her feelings?!"
Nao just lets Uehara walk all over her and is happy with the slight crumbs of affection and/or attention he gives her.
Nao didn't have to start dating Daichi instead just because he also liked her. But, she should have Never dated Uehara. He is not a good person. -
36. Present Perfect
Thai Movie - 2017
I didn't really feel like this ended. It kind of came out of nowhere and was awkwardly-paced.
Plus, there were only a few times I felt any sort of chemistry. -

38. The Director Who Buys Me Dinner
Korean Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
I wanted to like this. I really did. At first I told myself: It's not bad. But not good.
But . . . It was just bad.
I could tell the actors were trying to work with what they were given, but it was like you could almost see it behind their eyes that they wished they could say some lines differently.
And it wasn't just the performances that were lacking, the camerawork could be downright ugly, the important plotpoints of the story felt like they were thrown in at random times, the pacing was off, and the dialogue made me feel like I was in a hamster wheel!
Side Note: Why did Dennis even exist as a character?
Me trying to see the positives:
The concept had promise, the ending wasn't too bad, and sometimes the MLs had legitimate chemistry.
This is a skip my friends. Go watch The New Employee instead. I know you've been thinking about it. Just go!Can be found on iQiyi

39. Never Let Me Go
Thai Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
Overall, it's kind of just okay. Some episodes have a few engaging moments and instances of good cinematography but the majority is just *shrugs*
The chemistry was mostly *meh,* the acting was usually pretty stiff or just *meh* (with some occasional well-acted scenes), the story was all over the place or *meh,* and the OST was *meh.*
To summarize, it was a big pile of ✨meh✨
It's a skip, my friends. Unless, you're looking for eye-candy faces or abs, in which case, you do you . . . But I still think you won't truly enjoy this if you're being honest with yourself. -
40. Love Area Part 2
Thai Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
*Sighhhhh* I'm disappointed.
Was not a fan of the fifteen-minute recap of Part 1. Annoyed me if I'm honest. I already remembered what happened and just what wanted to see what was going to happen next. And if I needed a refresher I could have just rewatched Part 1 or skimmed over it, which I did.
Now, aside from that, the first few episodes were pretty well done. But, things quickly got off track. There was an unnecessary side couple added, they completely erased Peat's depression, Valen became unlikeable due to jealousy and an inability to listen, and Nont's character ended up just existing to be miserable and nothing else. And the ending was just... What was that?
Love Area Part 1 was like lighting in a bottle for me. It was something that unexpectedly succeeded in my book. It embraced its simplicity and focused on the emotions of the characters to make it memorable. It made me feel... In love.
This did not. -
41. A Boss and a Babe
Thai Drama - 2023, 12 episodes
The start of this wasn't bad. The chemistry was there and them going for "wacky rom-com featuring a 'bumbling idiot'" was kind of interesting as it mirrored similar US shows/movies.
However, throughout my time watching this, I kept bouncing back and forth between:
A.) Liking the lack of angst and being just amused enough.
And:
B.) Being bored.
Then, as it got closer and closer to the finale, they began to recycle the same conflict over and over and over again. Eventually, watching A Boss And A Babe felt more like a chore than a fun pastime.
This just goes to show that good chemistry and intimate scenes can't cover up a sub-par script and bad directing. Can be found on YouTube

42. Kakera: A Piece of Our Life
Japanese Movie - 2010
This could have been much better. The acting was good and the shots were nice. But, some parts didn't add up in the end and some very important things weren't addressed at all. I wanted to really like this, but I just couldn't.
-
43. The Boy Foretold by the Stars
Filipino Movie - 2020
I wanted to like this more. But the insanely (and I do mean insanely) stereotypical portrayal of most of the characters due to their sexuality weighed the good and great aspects of it down (like the chemistry, symbolism, lighting, and colors).

44. Love Alarm
Korean Drama - 2019, 8 episodes
This had so much potential. It was really good until the middle of episode 5. But, then they had to go and ruin it. Watching the last few episodes was painful. Up until that point while watching it I had no idea why people disliked it so much. But, after then, I understood.
The FL flipped and the story went off the rails and made me stop caring about the main character and her life.
This could have been an 8.5/10 at the very least. But, ultimately, they ruined what they had going for them. -

46. Blind
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
To put it simply, this felt clunky. It had the makings of what should be an engaging crime drama: an intriguing opening, a mystery that's revealed bit by bit, a heinous and tragic crime, twists, etc. However, the main ML was difficult to connect with, and overall, the story seemed to lack a clear focus. I felt like maybe if the drama was told through a certain ML's perspective, it would have been a lot better.
This is not one I would recommend when there are far better crime dramas out there. Can be found on free websites
