My Fansubbing Projects
All my Japanese media fansubbing projects since I started on July 9 2021, in order of release. Both my completed projects, and the one's I'm currently working on, alongside some comments.
-
1. Crazy Rain
Japanese Drama - 2020, 4 episodes
(Completed)
My first ever project. I picked it up since it was just 4 episodes, to get my feet wet.
I think it turned out okay for a first attempt. I had some technical hiccups with the RAWs, which wasn't fun especially as my 1st project. The drama itself is mostly a curiosity of a production done in the early stages of quarantine.
-
2. Black Scandal
Japanese Drama - 2018, 10 episodes
(Completed)
Second project. While Crazy Rain felt like a borderline student film, this is what I consider my 1st mainstream drama project. And it was pretty interesting, that while it can get really absurd at times, it was still an entertaining ride.
Revenge dramas have always been one of my guilty pleasures, so I was surprised to see one left unsubbed for years, which is why I'm glad I got to do it, it was fun.
-
3. Saretagawa no Blue
Japanese Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
(Completed)
My first ever currently airing fansubbing project. The show itself was serviceable I suppose. But being honest, it's the least favorite work of mine out of all so far. I felt I rushed my subs too much and didn't give them the proper care. Thankfully, I've since figured out how to balance things better for current airing stuff.
I would honestly suggest that you choose the Viki translation over mine.

4. Chijo no Kiss
Japanese Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
(Completed)
I wanted to give a romcom a try, since it's usually a genre I don't delve much on, wanted to dive into something outside my comfort zone. I enjoyed the experience, though it's not one I really look back on that much.
-
5. Omimi ni Aimashitara
Japanese Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
(Completed)
Now here's one of my all time favorite projects, not only for how good the drama is, but the friendships I managed to make because of it. I'm not a fan of every one of these food ad-like dramas, but this one manages to balance out the plot and ad elements very seamlessly, while having very likable characters and relatable scenarios. And Marika Ito is just a treasure. Give it a watch.
ごちそうさまでした

6. Soredemo Ai wo Chikaimasu ka?
Japanese Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
(Completed)
I picked this up because of Marika Matsumoto.
This drama started off fine, with solid performances, and some good scenes sprinkled in between that sadly went off the rails by the end. As such, I don't really recommend it.
-
7. Snack Kizutsuki
Japanese Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
(Completed)
I picked this up upon seeing a modern drama with Tomoyo Harada in the lead.
Very good and comfy food healing drama that I really enjoyed working on. I love these kind of lowkey shows.
-
8. Zenkamono
Japanese Drama - 2021, 6 episodes
(Completed)
My first WOWOW drama, really good quality and great performances, I'm happy with how it turned out.
-
9. Kagi no nai Yume wo Miru
Japanese Drama - 2013, 5 episodes
(Completed)
I was curious about the show when I saw the cover and noticed one of my favorites (Ryoko Hirosue) and that it was produced by WOWOW. Seems like it's been overlooked after years, so it feels great saving it from no subtitle hell.
-
10. Suteteyo, Adachi-san
Japanese Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
(Completed)
This was a personal request from a dear friend, and a very good one. This is a very engrossing and unique drama that dives deep inside an actresses' thoughts, worries, and ideals. Every single guest in every episode has been captivating, which includes some of my favorites such as Marika Matsumoto, Hairi Katagiri and Sadboi himself, Takumi Kitamura. Very underrated, but really worth a watch!
-
11. Shinjuku Junai Monogatari
Japanese Movie - 1987
(Completed)
My very first movie! I've been eyeing it out ever since I stumbled across it, so when I managed to get my hands on Japanese Captions (which I rely for fansubbing) I jumped at it!
I love the showa era, and these kinds of subgenre yanki films. Nothing says iconic like Toru Nakamura in the 80's! This was a lot of fun to work on!
-
12. Shitsuren Meshi
Japanese Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
(Completed)
Someone led me on to this drama, and it looked right up my alley. Tales of love and delicious food and cute vibes to go along with it, can't go wrong with that!
-
13. Hokusai to Meshi Saeareba
Japanese Drama - 2017, 8 episodes
(Completed)
Subs for this drama were started, but was dropped after the 1st episode. I started from the beginning to keep the translation style consistent throughout. Frankly, I was surprised to see a Mone Kamishiraishi drama left dropped for years, so it felt nice scooping this one up. The drama itself was pretty adorable and felt very manga-like, so if you're into that, there you go.
-
14. Hana no Asuka-gumi!
Japanese Movie - 1988
(Completed)
My second film project. I've always been a big fan of Japanese delinquent-girl media, such as Sukeban Deka, Shoujo Commando Izumi, and Asuka-Gumi. So I was always curious about this movie, and when the opportunity arose for me to sub it, I just knew I had to do it. While the movie might be more style over substance, working on it was surely a treat!
-
15. Petto ni do Hamari Shite, Kaisha Yamemashita
Japanese Special - 2022, 1 episode
(Completed)
My 1st SP project. As a big dog lover myself, this special was too tempting to let pass up. Short but sweet and super adorable, with a nice message.
-
16. Mental Tsuyome Bijo Shirakawa-san
Japanese Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
(Completed)
I loved working on this drama so much! The tone, the message it delivered, characters and their interactions, it was all wonderful, and overall one of my favorites projects! Every episode was very unique, and the breaking the 4th wall segments were done so well! I highly recommend!
-
17. Iburigurashi
Japanese Drama - 2022, 13 episodes
(Completed)
Quite the neat little food drama about smoking dishes. I liked the chemistry between the two leads and interactions. Every dish in every ep made me quite hungry and curious to try this method of cooking.
-
18. Nanji no Na
Japanese Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
(Completed)
Hard to find any words about this one, not every drama it's a winner I guess. It's fairly mediocre, though I liked the two leads. When it came to subbing it, I liked that it was short, and none of the episodes had that many lines, so I guess there's that? Heh...
-
19. Double
Japanese Drama - 2022, 10 episodes
(Completed)
-
20. Cinecon e Ikou!
Japanese Drama - 2022, 13 episodes
(Completed)

(Completed)

22. Tabi Suru Sandwich
Japanese Special - 2022, 1 episode
(Completed)
-
23. Shotengai no Pianist
Japanese Drama - 2022, 13 episodes
(Completed)
-
24. Doronjo
Japanese Drama - 2022, 11 episodes
(Completed)
-
25. Abunai Deka
Japanese Drama - 1986, 51 episodes
(Complete)
My Magnum Opus fansub project. I gave myself this ambitious "all or nothing" challenge last year. The condition was that I would announce and release these subs ONLY if I reached the end by January 2023, as a batch release. Thankfully I succeeded and this iconic piece of Japanese pop culture is now available in English!
-
26. Hana no Asuka-gumi!
Japanese Drama - 1988, 23 episodes
(Complete)
Just off the heels of finishing my biggest project ever, I decided to tackle a new challenge: Sub an entire show by ear. I decided to go with one of my favorite unsubbed sukeban dramas. It was a real challenge, and I wasn't 100% sure if I was gonna reach the finish line, but I did it, and I feel so proud! It's great to have saved one of these sukeban-themed shows from no-sub hell.
-
27. Sailor Fuku Hangyaku Doumei
Japanese Drama - 1986, 23 episodes
(Complete)
My second Full Series Batch release since Abunai Deka. It was a fun challenge working on this show, once again by ear, and it was a struggle at some parts due to the audio quality, but it was very enlightening. As a big fan, it's a joy to make all of these sukeban media more accessible.
-
28. Giver Taker
Japanese Drama - 2023, 5 episodes
(Complete)
-
29. Fence
Japanese Drama - 2023, 5 episodes
(Complete)
-
30. Sukeban Deka Season 3: Shojo Ninpo-cho Denki
Japanese Drama - 1986, 42 episodes
(Complete)
Having kickstarted this sukeban subbing adventure with Asuka-gumi, continuing it with Rebel Alliance, I decided to take on the highly desired Sukeban Deka III. This project's been whispering in my ear ever since I saw the show in Japanese years back, and also being a big fan of the first two seasons. Seeing no hope of anyone else tackling it, I took it upon myself, even going so far as to import the R2 DVDs for improved video encodes to replace the old XVID ones that have been kicking around for decades. It goes without saying that this project is quite special for me and I take great pride in it. I would be more than happy if this is the one for which I am remembered. With this show now finished, all Sukeban Deka seasons and the primary Sukeban shows have been fully subbed, and I'm glad I could be a part of it. ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡

31. Aries no Otometachi
Japanese Drama - 1987, 23 episodes
(Complete)
This is my first Daiei project. As a big fan of Sukeban shows, seeing some of the shared cast members here, like Yoko Minamino, motivated me to take on this project as my first of these. Hopefully the first of dozens of Daiei fansubs from yours truly. ?
