I think about the characters now and then

1. Angel's Last Mission: Love
Korean Drama - 2019, 32 episodes
This one had me crying like a baby. I will watch Shin Hye Sun in anything
-
2. Call It Love
Korean Drama - 2023, 16 episodes
I'm so happy to have watched two broken souls fall in love, mend and come back together again. This was beautiful
-
3. Chicago Typewriter
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
It's Yoo Ah In for me.
-
4. Come and Hug Me
Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes
The relationship between the leads is something so fragile and beautiful. I wanted to protect them from the world ㅠㅠ
-
5. Dr. Romantic Season 2
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
There's a scene of Ahn Hye Seop standing in the entrance to the hospital I think, in tears at his desperate situation (the debt collector coming after him at Doldam) after Dr. Sa Bu confronts him about why he is living his life the way it is. It always remains in my head.

6. Goblin
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
I've binged watched this twice and both times cried like a baby. The first time I tried to self soothe by looking for interviews by the cast but I couldn't watch them without crying. I really felt like I had lost close friends. The conversation Lee Dong Wook and Gong Yoo had about that scene let me know I was not alone in feeling that it was all too real. Beautiful drama
-
7. Haechi
Korean Drama - 2019, 48 episodes
Something about Jung Il Woo's presence and performance keeps drawing me back to this drama. Finally a King who was actually doing his job, and ministers who I somewhat respected by the end
-
8. I'm Not a Robot
Korean Drama - 2017, 32 episodes
Yoo Seung Ho man. Able to deliver childlike innocence and adult heartbreak. I keep returning to his drunken scene with Chae Soo Bin's character
-
9. It's Okay to Not Be Okay
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
I think I shed a tear every episode. I'm scared of watching this again. The first time I put it on hold because the knew I would feel empty when it ended. I know I will feel that again if I rewatch it
-
10. Moon Embracing the Sun
Korean Drama - 2012, 20 episodes
I'm obsessed with the scene between the king and his sister near the end. It never fails to have me in tears
-
11. Move to Heaven
Korean Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
My God. One of those ones that hurt my chest
-
12. Navillera
Korean Drama - 2021, 12 episodes
I don't think I would watch this again but I think about these two, and I get reminded of my late grandmas. Much has been said about Song Kang but it's that openness to his screen partner that explains why he gets these soft hurt boy roles, apart from his looks. Or maybe Park In Hwan was so great he brought that out of him.

13. One Spring Night
Korean Drama - 2019, 32 episodes
This is a comfort show. I love watching two people fall in love, no past connection, no trope, just in a quiet, natural way
-
14. The King: Eternal Monarch
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
This show got me through 2020 honestly. I view it as a high concept Hallmark series about a romance between a king from a fictional country/world and his warrior bride. I was really obsessed with this, read all the analysis I could find to dissect every theory, conversation and reference. I even tried to purchase Azaelas by Kim So Wol (translated). Now I just rewatch this to see beautiful people, cinematography and lyrical writing
-
15. The Rise of Phoenixes
Chinese Drama - 2018, 70 episodes
I think about the leads every now and then because this is one of the few c dramas I've watched in which the leads are well matched. Each is cunning in their own right and each of them is driven by their own ambitions in a way I respect. I love when characters' choice to forsake love or put it on hold is justified to the end without an ex-machina to give them a HEA. The last third of this drama is a mess, but it is one of my favourites because the leads gave performances I will never forget. Not to mention the cinematography is beautiful (like a film) and the costumes are marginally better than the usual whites, blues and pinks of Chinese costume dramas

16. The Untamed
Chinese Drama - 2019, 50 episodes
A masterpiece. This one showed me that in c dramas, what a show will lack in budget, it will make up for it in spades in acting and good writing
-
17. While You Were Sleeping
Korean Drama - 2017, 32 episodes
I remember crying so much at the end. This one took me on a journey
-
18. You Are My Glory
Chinese Drama - 2021, 32 episodes
Yang Yang delivers stoicism so well. His character would be my ideal man (if he just communicated).
-
19. Your Honor
Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes
I just love watching Yoon Shi Yoon perform. I love when I can tell an actor is having fun with their part
-
20. Hotel del Luna
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
I tried to rewatch but I couldn't get into it because it is so episodic (and long!), something that Goblin was as well but not as obvious. The OST brings up all this sad and empty feelings in me like some psychological trick and that's why I think about this show
-
21. Possessed
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
This one is so dark and fucked up and the last third is a mess but there's something about the desperation between the two leads, struggling to find some light in this despite the darkness that makes me think of them from time to time
-
22. Do You Like Brahms?
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
I miss the leads. I relate so much to the female lead, since I tried to pick up the cello in my 20s. I also relate to the feeling of not feeling good enough. Also Kim Min Jae is just so darn handsome
-
23. Love Between Fairy and Devil
Chinese Drama - 2022, 36 episodes
I felt like I said goodbye forever to friends I had made in the end
-
24. My Holo Love
Korean Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
This was one of the first dramas I watched. I guess I like it because I was so new to this and this just came to me when I couldn't find a sci-fi romance in western offerings.
-
25. Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
I really liked this one. Just the right amount of sweet I needed. I don't know why but I cried so hard at the end, which in any other show I wouldn't have. It's Lee Jae Wook man
-
26. Encounter
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
I just wish these two could have stayed in Cuba forever
-
27. Word of Honor
Chinese Drama - 2021, 36 episodes
This could only work with excellent acting from experienced and older actors, though the ending is rushed. I miss Wen Kexing
