Completed Dramas | 2020
- In the order they were watched. I tried to convey my thoughts on each drama after completion without including any spoilers. Some of the comments are about the feelings I felt during last episodes, so if you want to go into something without any expectations, it might be best to avoid reading my comments. The comments are mostly about my overall like/dislike of a show so I don't mention any specifics! :)

1. Strangers from Hell
Korean Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
I was hooked from start to finish! Really loved how dark it was and how creepy the characters were. Definitely had some things that made me uncomfortable but that was the point. I felt like Siwan's character was relateable and likeable. You understood his frustrations and felt trapped with him. Would love to watch this again either by myself or with friends!
-
2. Hidden Identity
Korean Drama - 2015, 16 episodes
Honestly felt like this was pretty mediocre. I didn't really feel attached to the characters in any way and the storyline was only a little interesting. Can't say it was terrible but also can't say that anything really stood out either. I did enjoy seeing Kim Bum in another drama, though!
-
3. Remember: War of the Son
Korean Drama - 2015, 20 episodes
Super depressing (hence the tragedy tag.) Kind of wish they would have interwined more of Jin Woo's (Yoo Seung Ho) photographic memory into the story. I was definitely rooting for Jin Woo but once the drama hit a certain point, it just felt like a downward spiral for him when things didn't really start off well for him in the first place.

4. Age of Youth Season 2
Korean Drama - 2017, 14 episodes
I love to watch the shenanigans this group of friends get themselves into! Really loved the new characters in this season and the relationship between Jo Eun and Jang Hoon was adorable!
-
5. Boku Dake ga Inai Machi
Japanese Drama - 2017, 12 episodes
I have not seen the anime but this story was very good and the kids in this did such a good job! I'm interested in going back and watching the anime to see how everything looks!
-
6. My Strange Hero
Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes
Started off really liking this drama! I enjoyed watching the leads together and liked how the story started to unfold. Got a little annoying later on but considering I wasn't really expecting to like the drama at all, I was still pleasantly surprised. School dramas might not be my thing and I didn't enjoy the politics but Yoo Seung Ho, Jo Bo Ah, and Kwak Dong Yeon did a good job portraying their characters.

7. When the Camellia Blooms
Korean Drama - 2019, 40 episodes
Loved the story but would have liked it if the characters were a little more likable. They weren't unbearable but I wish the character development would have happened a little sooner. Took me 4 or 5 episodes to decide that I liked Kang Ha Neul's character. Really enjoyed the suspense/mystery bits, though!
-
8. Love O2O
Chinese Drama - 2016, 30 episodes
I really wanted to like this as much as everyone else. The romance was super hyped up for me and then I watched it and felt like the characters had no depth. I did like that there weren't a ton of misunderstandings/conflict but by the end I really just wasn't feeling it.
-
9. My First First Love Season 2
Korean Drama - 2019, 8 episodes
I liked a lot of things about this drama but could not get past the frustration I felt with the characters. It really bothers me when love gets in the way of friendship and that was the main plot of the series.
-
10. When the Devil Calls Your Name
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
I was really looking forward to watching this drama. I don't think it lived up to my expectations but that's probably my fault for having expectations in the first place. I did really enjoy the drama and still love to listen to the OST. I think I would have enjoyed it a little more if there were more songs played throughout the drama instead of the characters singing the same couple of songs over and over again.
-
11. Psychopath Diary
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
I honestly thought this was a really creative drama! Amnesia is obviously overused in the drama world but this was a fun take on it. This was my first time seeing Yoon Shi Yoon in anything and I thought he was hilarious and had a really unique way of acting.
-
12. Life on Mars
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
I might cry while writing good things about this drama. :') I haven't seen the U.S. or BBC versions of this but man, what a show! It felt like I went on a journey with the characters and I was so sad when it ended. The story, the acting, the characters, and how everything came together was a work of art! <3 I would love to see another drama with Jung Kyung Ho and Park Sung Woong! (Another one besides When the Devil Calls Your Name.)
-
13. Hospital Playlist
Korean Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
Everything about this drama was perfect! I love the friendships and chemistry between the characters and I love that they're all intelligent doctors that also happen to have a band. It was so wholesome! The cameos from a bunch of actors that were also in the Reply series and Prison Playbook added to the enjoyment! Excited to see season 2!
-
14. The Light in Your Eyes
Korean Drama - 2019, 12 episodes
Thought this was pretty fun to watch overall. Didn't feel like the ending really hit me like it should have. Kind of on the fence between liking the ending and not liking it. I guess I get both sides of the arguments I've read about it. Also, still a little confused about a few things, ngl.
-
15. Watcher
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
I thought the story was confusing at times and I didn't always agree with the way Young Goon (Seo Kang Joon) handled things but I was rooting for him and got really caught up in the story. I thought the investigation behind the corrupt police was very interesting!
-
16. Arthdal Chronicles Part 1: The Children of Prophecy
Korean Drama - 2019, 6 episodes
Went into this with zero expectations, not knowing what it was about and I ended up getting blown away! What an amazing performance from Song Joong Ki! Really hope they go through with a season 2. Would love to have a conclusion to an amazing story! Would also love to have more dramas with this amount of fantasy and world building!
-
17. Arthdal Chronicles Part 2: The Sky Turning Inside Out, Rising Land
Korean Drama - 2019, 6 episodes
-
18. Arthdal Chronicles Part 3: The Prelude to All Legends
Korean Drama - 2019, 6 episodes
-
19. Mystic Pop-Up Bar
Korean Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
If I could go back and rewatch this so that I could experience watching it for the very first time again, I would. I had such a good time watching this every week when the episodes aired. It's super cute and funny but also does a good job making you cry. The chemistry between the characters is beautiful!
-
20. Dear My Friends
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
This drama was beautiful! I loved the side love story between the daughter and her ex-boyfriend and all of the friendships between the older characters! It dealt with a lot of real life issues which made it easy to get really invested in the lives of the characters.
-
21. The Ghost Bride
Taiwanese Drama - 2020, 6 episodes
This had a ton of potential to being good but I thought it was executed poorly. I had a fun time watching it with one of my friends and I know that she really liked it. It just ended up letting me down because I wanted so much more.
-
22. Defendant
Korean Drama - 2017, 18 episodes
There were several scenes where the music seemed too intense for the situation and was very distracting. A bunch of sad things happened to Ji Sung's character but I kept feeling like I couldn't emotionally connect with him. Really wanted to like this since it has such a high rating but the story unfolded in a way that made it hard for me to really get sucked in.
-
23. Kingdom
Korean Drama - 2019, 6 episodes
This has everything you'd want in a historical zombie drama. It's nasty, creepy, has great characters, and keeps you on the edge of your seat with all of its twists and turns. Highly recommend!
-
24. The Bridal Mask
Korean Drama - 2012, 28 episodes
I was nervous about the drama being 28 episodes long but really didn't notice the length while watching it. It's pretty action packed and I thought the characters were well written. Definitely not a happy time but I still really enjoyed it and wanted nothing more than for Kang To to get his revenge and help liberate the Korean people. FYI- lots of torture scenes.
-
25. SKY Castle
Korean Drama - 2018, 20 episodes
A slow burn up until the last half of the drama. Keeps you mildly interested and then SLAPS YOU IN THE FACE. It was really hard to stop watching the drama once I hit that point. Probably would have rated it a 9.5 if I felt better about the last episode but the vibes just didn't really match with the overall feel of the drama.
-
26. Imaginary Cat
Korean Drama - 2015, 8 episodes
It was pretty enjoyable. Mostly just watched it because it was short and had Yoo Seungho being adorable with a cat. I will say that several times I wondered why this man wouldn't just give that poor cat her food but oh well. Also, FL was very aggravating and the actress wasn't the best but at least the character was capable of some self reflection after being unbearable.
-
27. Was It Love?
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
I started this because I was in the mood for something hilarious and I didn't really think the reverse harem part of the drama would be taken so seriously but it was. I ended up being super frustrated with a majority of the characters. I really only liked the ahjumma, gangster dude, and the 2 kids. I had a hard time finding any reasoning the drama gave as good enough reasons to keep a child a secret from a father for 14 years and for the child to not know anything about her dad even though she wanted to know. I felt like the drama kept on pulling dirty tricks to keep people invested but it did the opposite for me. It just made the story painful to watch. The acting was still good but the story missed the mark for me.
-
28. Warrior Baek Dong Soo
Korean Drama - 2011, 29 episodes
I honestly have no idea what the writers were thinking when they wrote this. I loved certain aspects of the drama including some of the character development with Dong Soo's (Ji Chang Wook) character, the relationship between Dong Soo and Woon (Yoo Seung Ho), the sword fights, Woon's internal struggle, and *some* of the acting. I could not overlook how crazy all of the different plots (if you can even call them that) were, how cruel the writers were to the characters, the bad acting from the FL, and how frustrated I was when I finished episode 29 and felt like the writers robbed me of a satisfying ending.

29. It's Okay to Not Be Okay
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
I truly believe that this drama deserves all of the hype that it's getting. The acting, story, cinematography, and the characters were all such a breath of fresh air! I loved the crazy ride this drama took me on! I did not think the drama was perfect. There was one specific thing that got in the way of me rating this a little bit higher but I still thought it was amazing and I think the re-watch value is very high. Kudos to the actors, especially Oh Jung Se!

30. Once Again
Korean Drama - 2020, 100 episodes
I'd been keeping my eye on this drama for a few weeks after it'd already aired several episodes. I was mostly interested in it because of Lee Sang Yeob but was hesitant to start it because of the high episode count. I ended up starting it after a fellow MDLer (what are we even called) told me that I would love it, so I trusted a total stranger and dove right in! It maybe took me 5 episodes to really get fully invested. Once you figure out all of the relationship dynamics, it is such a lovely journey. I think there were a few things that happened in the drama that I'd deem unnecessary but for a 100 episode drama, that's not too bad! This drama and My Father is Strange have the same director so I feel like both dramas have pretty similar formulas but the stories are not the same. I think I liked Once Again slightly more than MFIS but if you liked one, then you'll most likely like the other.
-
31. Liar Game
Korean Drama - 2014, 12 episodes
I put off watching this drama for such a long time without really meaning to. I think my low rating really came down to the fact that stories surrounding televised game shows are not for me. I was mildly interested in the rivalry between Woo Jin (Lee Sang Yoon) and Do Yeoung (Shin Sung Rok) but it wasn't enough to carry the show for me. I also thought the FL was on the annoying side with how gullible she was. I think around episode 7 or 8 there was finally a game they played that I thought was interesting but then it got dragged out for too long and I lost interest again. I don't want to discourage anyone from watching this because I know that a lot of people really really liked it, I just really don't think it was for me.
-
32. Flower of Evil
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
THIS SHOW!!! It was crazy but it was great! It was really well done in almost every category. I would have rated it a little higher if things had gone a little differently in the last episode but I have also come to terms with what happened. Doesn't change the fact that I wish they had gone a different route for tying things up but there's nothing I can do to change that.
-
33. Nightmare Teacher
Korean Drama - 2016, 12 episodes
Since this is a really short web series, I thought it was a nice show to watch to fill the time. Since it was getting close to the beginning of October, I thought it'd be a nice way to start of the spooky season! It's not really scary but it does have parts that are a little eerie. Definitely thought the story was interesting but even though the episodes are between 10-20 minutes long, it did feel a little repetitive. I thought they could have spent more time on concluding it than they did.
-
34. Extracurricular
Korean Drama - 2020, 10 episodes
I think this drama was probably one of the most hyped shows of 2020 for me. I definitely agree that it's a good drama but I don't think I enjoyed it nearly as much as the majority of people did. It's really easy to binge since it's only 10 episodes and it is very different than almost any other kdrama I've seen. I might have enjoyed it more if the part of the drama that I found most interesting had a bigger part throughout. I haven't looked into if Netflix is planning on a 2nd season but I think this would be a great beginning to a longer series!
-
35. He Is Psychometric
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
I enjoyed this one so much! The relationship between Lee Ahn (Jinyoung) and Yoon Jae In (Shin Ye Eun) was really refreshing for me. I loved the respect they had for each other and loved how open they were with communicating their thoughts and emotions. I could probably gush over the good things about this drama all day! There's a specific storyline for one of the characters that kept me from rating this higher but I won't go into detail because of spoilers.

36. Dr. Romantic
Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes
This is one of those dramas I think you need to watch in its entirety to fully appreciate. I wouldn't consider myself a fan of medical dramas but if I were to base my rating just on the first 10 episodes, I would not have rated it a 9. The ML came off as very cocky in the beginning and his attraction toward the FL was very shallow but as the drama progressed you got to see the changes unfold. I get that there are some dramatic moments that only exist in dramaland but I felt that the drama had a lot of realistic and raw moments that really brought everything together. I already miss it.

37. Stranger Season 2
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
Season 1 focused more on actual murder investigations and season 2 focused more on the political side of things. I love love love seeing Bae Doona and Jo Seung Woo on screen together. They have such a unique and special relationship that it would carry the whole show even if the plot and supporting cast weren't good. The Stranger series (both season 1 and 2) were both really well rounded and had a lot of really great things. There have been talks of a 3rd season and I'd love to watch it! I still think about the very last few seconds of the 2nd season~

38. The Guest
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
This was such an incredible drama! I felt like it had everything you'd want in a drama. It was spooky, had great characters, and had a plot that kept you hooked from start to finish. Even though the drama is very dark, they did a good job of sprinkling in some humor so that you didn't feel like the drama was dragging you down too much. It was very sad overall but I still had a great time watching it!
-
39. The Stranded
Thai Drama - 2019, 7 episodes
I don't watch many Thai dramas but I thought this sounded really interesting and I liked that it was short. Some of the acting and dialogue were on the cringey side for me but I still found the plot interesting. If they release a season 2 I'll definitely watch it.
