Watched BL Shows: Korean Edition
What do I look for in a BL? 1. Couples chemistry 2. Plot/tropes I enjoy 3. Spicy time 4. Side couples or great friend group/side characters 5. Humor
Anything 7 or above was a series I enjoyed! Anything lower than that I either didn't enjoy or it only had one or two small redeeming qualities.
**Working on adding my favorite things about the series, and dislikes of the series

1. Semantic Error
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
Cute couple! Chemistry was good, one character has a cold personality, but his chemistry still came through. I also loved that cold personality! Filmed beautifully. Hate to love trope! A few kisses but they were great.
Park Seo Ham & Park Jae Chan = Love them!

2. Unintentional Love Story
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
Great chemistry, I felt the emotions between them during the good times and bad. The conflict made sense and was resolved well. I loved how possessive Yoon Tae Joon gets. EX BF comes back trope. The cold closed off ML trope paired with the the bright happy personality of Ji Won Young. Also he is hurt he looks like a sad puppy you just want to hug. There was no 'spice' but great intimacy. The few kisses were lock lipped, so I hated those but the small touches between them were heartwarming. The side characters were fun, I really liked their dynamic together. Kim Dong Hee was very lovable! The relationship between Dong Hee & Ho Tae could be an entire second series!
Disliked: Only the lock lipped kisses

3. A Shoulder to Cry On
Korean Drama - 2023, 7 episodes
My first ever BL! It was SO cute! The chemistry was great!
-
4. You Make Me Dance
Korean Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
Loan shark comes after debtor. A show portraying a slow growing spark that you can't ignore. It portrayed the feeling of growing fond for someone in the beginning of a relationship. The first kiss happened at the perfect time, and it felt natural. A bit lock lipped but loosened up version. Intimacy was there when it needed to be. The chemistry was okay but since this was so short it was hard to get a good feel for it. Towards the end the chemistry really came through though. They acted the emotions very well.
Disliked: I wish it had been a bit longer

5. Sing My Crush
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
A fluffy romance with a plot that sits very far in the background. If you want good feelings and cute actors, this is great. I loved the start, growth and change of their friendship. I do think it's a little odd that suddenly after confessing, someone else can magically gain feelings. This gives all the great Korean BL warm and fuzzy drama feel!
-
6. Cherry Blossoms after Winter
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
This one was a very sweet story, good chemistry between the characters, minimal conflict. Some decent friends. I really liked the bully and savior trope. We must protect Hae Bom at all costs! His older brother did not disappoint! Hae Bom was the cutest! This had a lot of cutsie scenes that just made you all warm and fuzzy!

7. Oh! My Assistant
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
So funny and so cute!
-
8. Our Dating Sim
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
SOOO CUTE
-
9. Love Mate
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
-
10. Long Time No See
Korean Drama - 2017, 5 episodes
Fast paced, cute story, a great twist and a happy ending. The actors were attractive and had good chemistry for how short it was.
-
11. A Breeze of Love
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
It was an interesting, fresh idea, done a little to quickly for my taste, but done well. The chemistry was good, the miscommunication trope was done well. I loved how bossy Dongwook was and how angry Dohyun was.
-
12. Jun & Jun
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
I'll agree that there wasn't much plot to this one. But the chemistry between the leads, the cuteness of Jun Mo with the sexy of Hyun Woo, perfection. I love how men flocked around Jun Mo. The spice was great, the possessiveness. Maybe a weak plot but the overall feeling of the story was fantastic.

13. Roommates of Poongduck 304
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
So funny!
-
14. Where Your Eyes Linger
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
Emotion was lacking from one lead, so the chemistry was a bit off. The plot was very interesting and I'd kill for this show to be longer and more fleshed out! Bodyguard, master/servant relationship. The father beating the bodyguard when the son does wrong. I considered dropping it to 7 stars but after rewatching a bit I was tempted to give it an 8.

15. Love Class
Korean Drama - 2022, 6 episodes
This was a slow burn BL. Close proximity trope. It had a bit of suspense and had some really good, protect yo man moments. The ending was warm and satisfying. It did seem a tad lacking because it was so short, but it did it's job.

16. Why R U?
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
While I do think the Thai version is on a different level both are worth a watch. In the Thai one I loved Saint and Vee but wasn't a fan of the Tommy & Jimmy pairing. I really liked both the couples in this one, they seemed paired well. It was cute and fun, it won't blow your mind but it will keep you happily entertained. Similar dramas I rated a 7 but because I love the plot behind this, it's a 7.5!
-
17. Love Class Season 2
Korean Drama - 2023, 10 episodes
The two couples were paired VERY well, I loved how the 2nd couples relationship developed and I LOVED Ma Ru (Lee Kwang Hee)'s character! He was so fun! I loved how Hyun (j-min) was so persistant it was so cute! I felt embrassed at times, and really had fun with this one. The suspense was interesting but the conclusion to it felt a little to easy. A lot of build up for little reward maybe. Kim An's character also wasn't my favorite, sometimes he was a snooze fest, but I did enjoy how loyal he was to Ma Ru on the low.

18. Bon Appetit
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
This was pretty cute. I wasn't a huge fan of one of the ML's and he seemed pretty selfish in the last two episodes. I did enjoy that it was a reuniting and the chemistry was pretty decent. The love square was fun, and the fact at one point they were literally all standing in a square bickering lol.
-
19. Bump Up Business
Korean Drama - 2023, 8 episodes
This felt low budget but still great. I did want more from it, but I appreciated what they gave us. I didn't even realize they were all in a Kpop group IRL haha. It was a fun quick watch with a rushed ending.
-
20. Mr. Heart
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
It was short and cute. It had loan sharks which was interesting. Jin Won was selfish and not very observant to Go Sang Ha's problems.
The subject matter wasn't very interesting to me, I don't care about running, but it was an okay background theme. It had enough other things and Sand Ha's cuteness to pull us through!
I loved Go Sang Ha's character! I want to watch more from the actor Han Se Jin! I think he would do well in a bigger BL ML role! I can see him being able to express his emotions well in a darker situation!

21. Blueming
Korean Drama - 2022, 11 episodes
This one was a bit bland for me. I still enjoyed it but it didn't leave me with any strong feelings, meh is the way I would describe it. Although some parts sparked joy, that kiss scene was fire, and them cuddling in bed together was super sweet. I think my main issue was it was a rough transition from foe to friend to lover, it went to quick and didn't seem to change naturally enough. Probably needed more time for this development. Also the subject matter, filming, didn't catch my fancy but it was an okay background story. I do have to say the chemistry was there, you could feel it in the intimate moments. The romance is sweet, if only the transition to lovers was less jarring. The 6 stars are for the lovely romance parts that I can't discredit. Also the characters were rough and complex, realistic and raw.
-
22. Color Rush
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
This was a VERY interesting idea and I liked the main couple but the plot left a lot to be desired. It was way to short for the idea!
-
23. Color Rush Season 2
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
-
24. Tinted with You
Korean Drama - 2021, 8 episodes
It felt shallow and the chemistry wasn't really there. It didn't have much excitement and wasn't as cute as I'd hoped. I did enjoy Park Jun Hee's character though.
-
25. Oh! Boarding House
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
Siiigh, this felt like they took a great series and cut it up. Only showing the highlight points. It felt so disjointed and awkward. The male leads were attractive and looked great together, we even had some chemistry there, but the pacing and feel of chopped up scenes really ruined this.
