Actor Woo Do Hwan shared that he enjoys working out, rather than drinking alcohol, as a way of stress relief.  

Recently, Woo Do Hwan held an interview with local reporters at a café in Sogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul for his recently-released Netflix drama Mr. Plankton

Mr. Plankton tells the story of Hae Jo (Woo Do Hwan), a man plagued by misfortune, who is forced to embark on the final journey of his life alongside Jo Jae Mi (Lee You Mi), the most unfortunate woman. 

In the series, Woo Do Hwan plays the role of Hae Jo, a man mistakenly born, who had to live a life wandering alone without family.

Woo Do Hwan shared, "Hae Jo is a guy who's really different from me. I live every day with discipline and rules, and it's been that way for a long time. I actually enjoy that lifestyle, and I have a compulsion, not an obsession, with exercising and self-care. But to transform into Hae Jo, I decided to stop doing the things I usually do every day, like exercise."

"Since Hae Jo's life is so opposite to mine, I felt I needed to make changes to understand him. For example, I don't drink, but while working on Mr. Plankton, I did... I avoid drinking mainly for self-care, fearing muscle loss, or to get ready for the next day's work. Even when I'm stressed, I exercise instead of drink. But when I was not exercising [for this project], after filming, when I was completely exhausted, I found myself wanting a drink. But as soon as filming wrapped up, the urge to drink disappeared entirely [when the actor started exercising again]," he added.

Regarding the numerous shirtless scenes, Woo Do Hwan shared, "I feel like there's no drama where I don't take my shirt off. But this time, I didn't work out at all."

He added, laughing, "If I don't work out, I lose muscle mass. Hae Jo isn't supposed to look fit, so if I looked too healthy, maybe I didn't prepare well enough." He noted, "I weighed about 78 kg when filming Bloodhounds, but I was around 71 kg for Mr. Plankton. I'm sorry to put it this way, but if I don't exercise, I lose the urge to eat. I put a lot of effort into building muscle rather than gaining fat."
