Happy ending C-Dramas
A compilation of all genres in the order of which I watched them.
I'm not a detailed reviewer/critic; I watch shows to relax. Just gotta have strong/smart characters, mature relationships, happy endings (which is hard to find that combination already lol)
-
1. Love O2O
Chinese Drama - 2016, 30 episodes
- smart FL & ML, liked how there was no misunderstandings
- really liked the balance between modern day & the game's historical outfits/ effects
- some scenes are cringe though & i completely skipped second couple's scenes whoops
-
2. Put Your Head on My Shoulder
Chinese Drama - 2019, 24 episodes
- loved campus setting, smart leads, mature relationship
-
3. Skate Into Love
Chinese Drama - 2020, 40 episodes
- enjoyed the winter sports aspect and a glimpse of what athletes undergo both mentally & physically
- strong FL
- bickering leads, w/ some relationship drama (i disliked)
- disliked the multiple love plots -- it's not even a love triangle or a love square, there's like a love hexagon going on
-
4. Falling into Your Smile
Chinese Drama - 2021, 31 episodes
- enjoyed the way this show went beyond showcasing the training of professional gamers, incorporating also the stress/darker side of fame
- strong FL, had quite a mature relationship with ML
-
5. Who Rules the World
Chinese Drama - 2022, 40 episodes
- both smart & strong leads, mature relationship, cool action scenes
- after my rewatch : it's an ambitious show weaving in the martial art world, inner court politics / fight for the crown AND tension between kingdoms -- in that quest for impressive world-building, in terms of characters, some antagonists became boring because they were repetitive / flat. BUT the dynamics and skills of the leads still made me enjoy this!
-
6. The Untamed
Chinese Drama - 2019, 50 episodes
- appreciated the costumes, action scenes, showcase of erhu & guqin
- had skipped/fast-forwarded a few subplots
-
7. The Oath of Love
Chinese Drama - 2022, 32 episodes
- super realistic Asian family problems/arguments, but it was too close to home for me so I was exhausted by the end of this show LOL
- showed both leads' 'workplace' problems well -- as an aspiring cellist & a current doctor in a hospital
- had some frustration w/ the leads but not the worst I guess?
-
8. You Are My Hero
Chinese Drama - 2021, 40 episodes
- one my favourite C-Dramas, with smart FL, strong ML, super mature relationship
- characters' problems arise from their jobs -- as a SWAT officer & doctor/surgeon, rather from within relationship (which I very much prefer, seeing leads work together through challenges)
- second lead love plot got a bit messy, and I fast-forwarded parts especially towards the end
-
9. Legend of Fei
Chinese Drama - 2020, 51 episodes
- strong FL, funny ML, mature relationship, cool action scenes
- found family, happy ending
- it got draggy at some parts, which I skipped/fast-forwarded through
-
10. Maiden Holmes
Chinese Drama - 2020, 32 episodes
- another one of my favourites, with smart & strong leads, mature relationship
- conflicts (e.g identity reveals) only last a short while, which is fair enough
- found family, happy ending
-
11. The Imperial Coroner
Chinese Drama - 2021, 36 episodes
- smart leads, FL gives scientific autopsy reports -- well done to scriptwriters
- didn't like the huge difference in power dynamics the leads had though, even with the mature communication
- found family, happy ending
-
12. Forever Love
Chinese Drama - 2020, 28 episodes
- smart leads, super super mature relationship -- love how the first few episodes started with scenes of their wedding, guaranteeing a happy ending
- some school scenes are a bit too fictional but the university setting was good
- featured some realistic family conflicts -- found family was a bit unrealistic how they stayed the same from high school to the workplace, but it was cute
-
13. When We Were Young
Chinese Drama - 2018, 24 episodes
- forgot to check ending before starting this -- just prepare for a bittersweet one (with themes of growing up, high school friend group parting etc)
- ML is a green flag, just wished FL was given some more redeeming 'smartness' points so it didn't seem like a Hermione-Ron dynamic
-
14. A Girl Like Me
Chinese Drama - 2021, 40 episodes
- smart ML, strong FL -- just wished FL was less impulsive
- cool action scenes, supportive family
- watched for Neo Hou -- couldn't take him seriously after WWWY cuz of the voice dubbing in this one, but I understand audiences prefer deep voices for serious characters
-
15. The Killer Is Also Romantic
Chinese Drama - 2022, 18 episodes
- strong leads, cool action scenes, not too complex of a plot
- some acting was a bit stiff but overall decent for a mini drama
- happy ending
-
16. Love Like the Galaxy: Part 1
Chinese Drama - 2022, 27 episodes
- interesting dynamic between the leads -- despite the status difference, I did not feel like the ML was too high up like the one in Imperial Coroner
- can see the FL's growth/maturity
- fast forwarded the heavy palace politics as usual
-
17. Love Like the Galaxy: Part 2
Chinese Drama - 2022, 29 episodes
- shows even more of the morally grey characters
- brilliant acting
- satisfying/happy ending
-
18. Sweet Tai Chi
Chinese Drama - 2019, 24 episodes
- super cute relationship, strong/smart leads, found family
- maybe just wished there was a skill the FL taught the ML something instead of ML taking charge of everything (but it wasn't too much, still cute dynamic)
- quite liked the mix of ancient culture/tradition of tai chi, mixed with the modern day setting
- interesting plot twists, happy ending
-
19. Lighter & Princess
Chinese Drama - 2022, 36 episodes
- smart leads, slow burn, loved how loyal the FL is, how characters had their own strengths & weaknesses
- ML was a bit too overbearing for me though
- the conflicts/ external pressure and problems weren't overdone, good balance of feelings
-
20. Fall in Love
Chinese Drama - 2021, 36 episodes
- smart leads, aesthetic setting/fashion (zhang jing yi looked gorgeous in every scene)
- major second lead syndrome -- the more i think about it, the more i hate the main male lead and the FL who kinda has stockholm syndrome
- awful dubbing sometimes that threw me off & the middle episodes dragged in terms of angsty-ness
-
21. Detective L
Chinese Drama - 2019, 24 episodes
- smart ML, strong FL
-
22. Till the End of the Moon
Chinese Drama - 2023, 40 episodes
- overall, leads were solid, fairly satisfying ending after a lot of betrayal etc
- had the fantasy, romance, adventure, action elements I was looking for
- gorgeous visuals but some middle episodes dragged on for too long
- the angsty romance across different lifetimes arc isn't my cup of tea
-
23. Back from the Brink
Chinese Drama - 2023, 40 episodes
- strong & smart FL, righteous
- ML also strong
- humour throughout series made it less hard to finish
- happy ending
-
24. Time and Him Are Just Right
Chinese Drama - 2022, 25 episodes
- smart leads! (I had some second lead syndrome though)
- cringe episodes at first but it genuinely gets funny later on
- have some misunderstandings (especially before they get together) but gets resolved relatively fast compared to other dramas
- found family (though side couple had a lot of conflicts) w/ realistic themes of growing up
-
25. Fireworks of My Heart
Chinese Drama - 2023, 40 episodes
- be prepared for some angst in the relationship like in the Oath of Love (I've always skipped the parts when her mom is on screen LOL)
- enjoyed the chicago fire/ chicago med themes (like You are My Hero)
- smart/strong leads who learn how to be people-smart
-
26. Storm Eye
Chinese Drama - 2021, 40 episodes
- smart & mature leads, also good supporting characters
- would've liked it if it was a bit more like chicago pd/ ncis where they focus on a few different cases (also with some action scenes) rather than drag a big one out for 40 episodes
- english dubbing was a bit funny lol but happy ending
-
27. When I Fly Towards You
Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes
- smart leads!
- obviously there's cringe scenes BUT overall super fluffy and sweet lol had to pause to stop my jaded soul from being overwhelmed
- love how the friend group shared fun times and studied hard together! Realistic growing up themes, really fleshed out supporting characters
- timeline did skip quite a bit though, wished there was more scenes set in university but understandable to try to reunite OG friend group post graduation
-
28. A Dream of Splendor
Chinese Drama - 2022, 40 episodes
- smart & strong leads, challenge social hierarchy
- pretty sceneries & costumes
- pacing was good until misunderstandings (between friend group & leads) which dragged for a bit which caused me to skip like 5 episodes
-
29. The Blood of Youth
Chinese Drama - 2022, 40 episodes
- interesting characters w/ diverse personalities & missions!
- 'soul land' vibes with the martial arts/ cultivation (powers etc), as well as found family/camaraderie
- pacing of plot was so well done, i could also follow the politics with no problems, didn't skip any episodes
- surprising, entertaining comedy relief moments
-
30. Mysterious Lotus Casebook
Chinese Drama - 2023, 40 episodes
- love watching chengyi act but he do be always acting in angsty roles. pls is there a happier drama he's in yet
- melancholic vibes throughout the show cuz lead is a dying man :') ofc it's not all sad, more bittersweet/ retiree vibes AHAHA
- the case solving started to get repetitive/ drag a bit at the halfway mark
-
31. Joy of Life
Chinese Drama - 2019, 46 episodes
- good balance of humour & seriousness, politics not overly complicated
- righteous ML. Though playful sometimes, he's still smart
- season 2 where are u
-
32. A Familiar Stranger
Chinese Drama - 2022, 18 episodes
- pretty good mini-drama, i liked the pacing (1 ep is only 10-15 mins)
- i'm sure there's plotholes but i didn't think too much of it, was a good lighter watch & the acting/visuals was better than expected
- love the relationship & trust between the leads
-
33. Sword Snow Stride
Chinese Drama - 2021, 38 episodes
- once again enjoyed zhang ruo yun's character -- clever, fun, multidimensional
- has a mix of humour/ comedy relief moments in it
- started strong BUT middle episodes onwards started to drag a lot :(
-
34. Lost You Forever
Chinese Drama - 2023, 39 episodes
- started watching this for the cinematography / actors (which was the best part of this drama i would say)
- i hate multiple love interest plots so skipped a lot of jing's scenes haha, but i would say each love interest were quite fleshed out
- i do wish there was more time spent in world building e.g. the scenes where chishui feng long is explaining the tribes / clans etc cuz i'm a bit confused about that part of the plot
- not as tragic as i expected (side eye for u, Till the end of the moon)
-
35. Wuliang
Chinese Movie - 2020
- pretty solid acting from both leads, concise storyline with interesting twists
- wished it was a BIT longer though with more power/fight scenes
- happy ending
-
36. My Decoy Bride
Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes
- strong/smart leads
- pretty good acting, videography, action scenes, for a minidrama
- politics wasn't too complicated
-
37. Zhang Gong Zhu Zai Shang
Chinese Drama - 2022, 27 episodes
- FL is both beauty & brains
- pretty decent acting, fight choreo, videography + nice costuming for a project that was meant for a platform like tiktok
- the skips between scenes are a bit fast though. obviously not for any big plots, the plot is the leads' relationship
- so it's a good quick lighter binge
-
38. Lovely Us
Chinese Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
- childhood friend group is SO CUTE
- realistic themes of school setting, growing up
- characters all super fleshed out, including the parents
- the second-hand embarrassment is still quite funny
- overall, just a healing show, one of my fave youth ones for sure
-
39. Dong Lan Xue
Chinese Drama - 2023, 30 episodes
- once again, pretty good costumes/props/action scenes for a tiktok-esque platform
- leads' chemistry was better in ZGZZS
- plot was more intense than i expected
-
40. Story of Kunning Palace
Chinese Drama - 2023, 38 episodes
- 90% of plot is politics, but for some reason, i found this one really interesting. Balance of action scenes, pacing was done well, didn't focus too much on leads bickering back & forth (side eye @ Wonderland of Love)
- reminded me of Love like the Galaxy, but with even smarter / more mature leads
- also had Lost You Forever type of multiple love interests... BUT I REALLY LIKED ALL OF THEM HERE UGH
- I especially liked how this FL here picked herself up setback after setback, showing her strength through actions, rather than Lost You Forever FL who mostly just spoke about her hardships but then became weak after not succeeding with Jing
-
41. What's Wrong with My Princess
Chinese Drama - 2023, 32 episodes
- acting was meh but the costumes/cinematography was good
- smart FL, wished we saw more of her fighting skills too though
- decent short drama
-
42. The Romance of Tiger and Rose
Chinese Drama - 2020, 24 episodes
- FL was too playful & annoying -- her character arc took way too long. plot seemed to drag at first and then sped through so fast at last 8 episodes
- i'm usually not a fan of enemies-to-lovers (too many misunderstandings/conflict etc) but this was done decently
- only finished watching for eye candies (Ding Yu Xi) lol his mix of scheming & boyish charm is fresh
-
43. The Deliberations of Love
Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes
- another decent short drama to pass time. FL wasn't too annoying
- definitely relationship focused rather than on big plots
-
44. The Legend of Shen Li
Chinese Drama - 2024, 39 episodes
- i usually avoid xianxia BUT here are the reasons why i still gave this a chance AND ENDED UP ENJOYING IT:
- there's a lean towards the mortal world like Lost You Forever, less ridiculous yapping amongst immature ancient deities
- SLOW BURN AHHH with strong, smart, mature characters !!!
- no angsty numerous lifetime arcs thank goodness
- no serious multiple love interests HAHA
- decent cgi, fight scenes
- happy ending!
-
45. Secrets of the Shadow Sect
Chinese Drama - 2024, 24 episodes
- surprisingly good acting! (not just by short drama standards -- these actors could be in those standard ones for sure)
- good quality fight scenes, costumes, sceneries etc too
- has the ZGZZS dynamic but the plot is a lil more complex
- satisfying binge
-
46. Mr. & Mrs. Chen
Chinese Drama - 2023, 32 episodes
- i love the fashion of republican dramas, and this one was not short of eye candies XD
- hard to find happy ending ones set in this time period for obvious reasons, so i started watching this for the HE rather than critiquing the plot
- smart leads though that actually prove it -- also liked how they were on the same wavelength instead of one being only brains and the other only brawn
-
47. Thousands of Years of Love
Chinese Drama - 2024, 22 episodes
- bite-sized xianxia with the magic, diff lifetime plot (human realm) etc, but minimal angst with happy ending!
- although the plot did give me whiplash AHAHA, I appreciated the chemistry of the leads and their characters not being too annoying
- so overall it was a satisfying binge
-
48. Blossoms in Adversity
Chinese Drama - 2024, 40 episodes
- i prefer action/fantasy over just business/family type of historical dramas cuz the frustrations/conflicts are too close to home for me lol like i can do 'the world is collapsing' but can't do family bickering AHAHA
- but this was not bad, really liked the leads' communication
- also this cast is full of eye candies XD
-
49. Joy of Life Season 2
Chinese Drama - 2024, 36 episodes
- i do miss xiao zhan but hot take - Wu Xingjian did his character justice
- interesting, realistic, complex characters. enjoyed the imperial examination episodes the most
- of course was very happy to see Wu Zhu again ehe
- much more long term scheming, court politics type of plot. Excited for the action packed plot of season 3
- colour grading improved!
-
50. Amidst a Snowstorm of Love
Chinese Drama - 2024, 30 episodes
- be warned - SLOWWW start & pacing. I watched on 1.25x speed, oop
- BUT Plot picks up during the later eps, a healing sports-romance show!!!
- though Leo Wu will always seem young to me XD so kinda funny seeing him trying to take on older roles.
- on the other hand... Wang Xing Yue looked so mature -- i forgot he's my age. NAUR WE 2002 KIDS ARE GROWING UP
- couldn't help cringing at the english dialogue but issokay this show was packed with eyecandies (Ding Xiao Ying, Chen Jing Ke, Han Dong Lin,,,) HAHA
-
51. Miss Mystery
Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes
- acting was meh but gotta love a FL who is smart + can fight
- ALSO marriage alliance + revenge story? In Republican era clothes? Right up my alley
- the plot was lowkey just the leads' chemistry - though the guy said 'i love you' wayyy too early on HAHAH
-
52. Yesterday Once More
Chinese Movie - 2023
- really liked both actors & was satisfied by their performance!
- a balance of angst & sweetness
-
53. The Double
Chinese Drama - 2024, 40 episodes
- really enjoyed watching Wang Xing Yue take on a scheming role!
- stakes were pretty high & intense in this one - poor female lead could not catch a break AT ALL
- so this was less bingeable + the subplots (especially the jiang family drama) reminded me of how Mysterious Lotus Casebook dragged at some parts
- also, the director's close up zooming / camera angles were a bit dizzying lol
-
54. The Princess Royal
Chinese Drama - 2024, 40 episodes
- appreciated how the leads eventually communicated + the slow burn was done well! though i think the su rong qing didn't need so many redemption points / excuses repeated over and over
- loveeee smart characters + the side characters were fleshed out too!
- court politics weren't overly complicated - easy to follow
- Zhang Ling He was such an eye candy in this - also his character here is my fave following the one he acted in Maiden Holmes
-
55. Dashing Youth
Chinese Drama - 2024, 40 episodes
- really loved the scenes of the 8 martial brothers together, loved the camaraderie in the academy setting -- the found family trope will forever be my fave. Wished they had more scenes together :(
- appreciated the lightheartedness of this show, just like the Blood of Youth -- I know some people complain about it being 'childish' or 'just filled with eye candies' in certain episodes, but I already knew the style coming into this -- the cliché tropes like the 'chosen one' / hero's arc etc didn't bother me
- also this is CGI done well, so I didn't mind the high fantasy aspect rather than proper fight choreography. Sometimes I just want to watch superpowers XD
- BUT the time jump in ep 33 was jarring ngl, wished there was more transition
- did have to refer back to Blood of Youth cast & characters etc to keep track -- sooo may characters
-
56. Love Me, Love My Voice
Chinese Drama - 2023, 33 episodes
- this is just a healing show to watch in between intense stuff -- not much plot honestly, they are talking about cooking 90% of the time HAHA
- the relationship develops SUPER DUPER SLOWLY so i understand why people find this boring (even though i love slow burn this was also slow for me lol) - can tell it's the same writer as Amidst a Snowstorm of Love
- watched this on 1.25/1.5x speed oop - the best paced eps (16-18) were the ones when they went on the work trip lol
- enjoyed the uni setting from the FL and the med / voice actor background from ML
- 2nd couple also grew on me. Eye candies everywhere lol
-
57. Miss S
Chinese Drama - 2020, 34 episodes
- smart leads! (and eye candies in every episode -- love seeing people prance around in republican era fashion without too much politics going on)
- enjoyed the way cases did not drag for more than 2-3 episodes (side eye @ Storm Eye)
- but the FL did get annoying at some points (kept overstepping boundaries, doing dangerous stuff on her own even when ML had told her not to)
- and the last 3 episodes got me facepalming the stupidity of some characters but other than that it was one of the better republican dramas
-
58. Melody of Golden Age
Chinese Drama - 2024, 40 episodes
- smart leads! A bit too much of info dump at the beginning (case solving, side characters, court politics) but it gets less confusing later on
- pacing is a bit slow + characters have a slow burn, so I did watch this drama on faster speed haha & skipped the relationship conflicts (ep 37)/ subplots cuz i have no more patience to deal with those LOL (side eye @ Love like the Galaxy)
- overall, quite decent besides the ODD CHOPPY SCENE JUMPING CUTS from ep 27 onwards
-
59. Exclusive Fairytale
Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes
- childhood friends to lovers trope done well!
- Zhang Miao Yi really suits acting this genre over the other ones she's done - Jun was quite stiff but the character dynamics were cute so it was a good fluffy binge
- cute easter eggs on Jun's Seventeen references AHAHA
- would've appreciated the FL showcase her capability a bit more though if her grades weren't good e.g. taekwondo skills cuz that's how she got into their top high school... BUT EVENTUALLY it showed her growth in terms of studying though thank goodness
- liked the fact the uni arc started around the halfway mark though, happy to get the balance of school + uni setting!
- side characters were quite helpful too HAHA
-
60. Fateful Love
Chinese Drama - 2024, 40 episodes
- LOVE strong & smart leads - really liked both their personalities
- didn't really know the cast, but the acting was decent!
- fun watch - appreciated the balance of action with politics (those dramas that just focus on investigation are a bit heavy for me sometimes)
- did skip many episodes tho oops - this would've been better paced as a mini drama
-
61. The Rise of Ning
Chinese Drama - 2024, 40 episodes
- family politics isn't my fave historical genre but SMART LEADS made it interesting
- i knew the leads weren't actually real siblings so was not worried about the whole potential incest AHAHHA but yeah it's still tricky to transition love interests from fake siblings to lovers
- watched for Zhang Wan Yi (a bit stiff in my opinion), was a bit meh with Ren Min at first but her character was actually not annoying in this one (though her voice took a while getting used to)
- the scenes of FL @ the Wei home with the Duke were so sweet :') made me tear up
-
62. Love at Night
Chinese Drama - 2021, 30 episodes
- watched for Liu Xue Yi, but the FL is such an eye candy too & is a lady boss herself
- obviously there's cliches and some cringe but i'm here for a lighthearted time anyways
- FL did take a while to come around but i think it was pretty realistic for someone who had been in a 10 year toxic relationship. (i fast-forwarded most of those scenes though HAHAH)
- most conflicts happen before they get together which is what i prefer tbh than later down the road
- also skipped the side couples oops
-
63. Unforgettable Love
Chinese Drama - 2021, 24 episodes
- wanted to try watching Wei Zhe Ming's acting - was pleasantly surprised by the plot, pacing + other actors as well. XIAO BAO IS SO CUTE WHAT THE HECK
- Hu Yi Xuan reminds me of Hyeri hehe full of expressions + very natural
- second couple quite funny, love the FL's friends
- really liked how the ML wasn't just an objective, cold robot -- still cared for people in his own way
- skip over ep20,21 if you hate misunderstandings
-
64. Youth in the Flames of War
Chinese Drama - 2023, 39 episodes
- started watching for the main leads (Dylan Wang's acting really improved) and the setting of students in the WW2 period
- really made me appreciate my own education opportunities!
- more history here: https://www.sixthtone.com/news/1007661
- it was an okay watch for me, should've been shorter
-
65. New Life Begins
Chinese Drama - 2022, 40 episodes
- watched for Bai Jing Ting
- i prefer smarter, more confident female leads so i didn't really like this FL but at least she wasn't completely a bimbo
- some episodes were a bit draggy though
- overall, i liked how there was a mix of female friendship, court politics, action, humour
-
66. The Love You Give Me
Chinese Drama - 2023, 28 episodes
- Wang Zi Qi actually looks good here + the kid is adorable + FL is capable
- angst in the middle episodes was unnecessary (chen jiajun being related to sun tian, skip misunderstandings ep 17-21) but other scenes were quite sweet
- Chen Xin Hai is also so cute
-
67. You Are My Lover Friend
Chinese Drama - 2024, 30 episodes
- friends to lovers done well! They're sooo sweet omg and are both smart, resilient leads!
- really slowww burn but i liked it overall! Maybe could've been shortened by around 3-5 episodes though
- their friend group working together is cute - especially happy to see Wu Jun Ting again & i love his character here
- the married couple was really funny & i liked how they showcased both ups and downs of relationships too!
-
68. Destined
Chinese Drama - 2023, 40 episodes
- hello again Bai Jing Ting! Slaying comedy, angst, action scenes. Also him and Liu Xue Yi in one show??? AHHH
- i hate couples bickering so the first ~6 episodes were slow/annoying for me but it picked up after
- this show's ambition in incorporating comedy, business, war, court politics, starting a new dynasty, reminded me of the complexity of Who Rules the World -- it's hard to pull off. The court politics was especially frustratingly stupid and unnecessary
- they should have ended around Ep 28 after the war
- at least there's my fave trope -- THE COUPLE STAYING TOGETHER FACING WHATEVER LIFE THREW AT THEM
-
69. Wrong Carriage, Right Groom
Chinese Drama - 2023, 24 episodes
- finally Tian Xi Wei's character had skills (martial arts) to backup her straightforward nature here
- the romance of both couples happened really quickly but i didn't mind it after watching several slow burn shows
-
70. Reset
Chinese Drama - 2022, 15 episodes
-
71. Love Game in Eastern Fantasy
Chinese Drama - 2024, 32 episodes
-
72. The Best Day of My Life
Chinese Drama - 2024, 14 episodes
-
73. To Fly with You
Chinese Drama - 2021, 35 episodes
