Favorite Movies

To be totally honest with y'all, I tend to enjoy and really like a lot of movies... so even if it's not on this list, I probably still really like it, and may even consider it a favorite. In order to keep this list on the smaller side, though, these movies are ones that I found interesting or different in someway, or maybe there was a moment in it that hit the feels. These are movies that I look back on fondly, and even if they were sad, I smile a little as I look back on them. So even if they weren't the best movie in the world, they still have a special something to me that got them on this list.

  • A Werewolf Boy

    1. A Werewolf Boy

    Korean Movie - 2012

    10

Song Joong Ki and Park Bo Young? Yesssssss <3
Actually I'm probably a strange one, I watched this because of Joong Ki after watching DotS. In fact, it's part of why I fell for Bo Young.

Well, needless to say, I find the acting done by the main leads to be really very good. However I feel like that doesn't really do it justice. Bo Young does an amazing job as usual, bringing life to her character. Joong Ki plays a boy who is more like a dog (reasons explained in the movie >.>) and thus doesn't speak (He seriously has one, maybe 2 lines in the whole movie). Everything he wants to portray has to be exclusively through facial expressions and body language. This all cultivates to an extremely emotional scene between our leads. That particular scene is what has made this movie make the list. Though that's not to mention the other emotional scenes or cute scenes between the two that make this movie a trip for the heart.

The colors used in this movie also brings a lot of life to it, bringing a calming feeling to it. the movie uses light yet still vibrant colors in the lively areas where the two are happy together, and cooler darker blues to the sad areas.

  • House of Flying Daggers

    2. House of Flying Daggers

    Chinese Movie - 2004

    9.5

Honestly I could have put Hero here instead... and the two kinda fought each other to be on this list. However I watched House of Flying Daggers first so... a quick shout out to House of Flying Dagger's predecessor, Hero! (Also helps Hero is a popular title name *cough cough*)

Where to start. Well... Cinematography is probably the easiest. These two movies are known for their beautiful cinematography. Zhang Yi Mou loves using rich colors to express a scene. Used to the extreme in Hero, what I love about House of Flying Daggers is that it feels more naturally colored. You have beautifully choreographed fight scenes with the surroundings always being used as well. There is a lot I could say about this movie, but I can't really put it into the words I want to at the moment...

  • ZEDD

    6. ZEDD

    Japanese Movie - 2014

    8.5

"We shouldn't lose hope or forget what human beings need. If it weren't for movies or music, we're living dead just like them. Then there's no meaning to live in this world." - Zero (ZEDD)

These words basically sum up the message behind the entire movie. It's not without flaws, there are questions that are left unanswered, or even addressed, with some only somewhat answered. Questions like, how do they all just understand each other perfectly, even though they are only speaking one language each, they understand Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and English perfectly, or Why do they only address each other through numbers? Did they somehow lose their names? Or refuse to be called by them now? I know they were prisoners once (hence their uniforms) but they mention the name of another inmate at some point, so why do they only call each other numbers? Etc etc. Acting is pretty decent all around, with somewhat distractedly poor acting by the young girl.
However, even with all that was listed, I still find this movie very enjoyable. Although super cringe-y, I really enjoy the message that one needs things like music, movies, entertainments in general, in order to really live. Life is dull without them. Although I have many questions concerning it... I really enjoy the conversations through different languages with no view-able language barrier.
