1. Midnight Runners
Korean Movie - 2017
This was surprising. I was expecting a mindless comedy action flick but what I got was much more. This was deeper and darker. Park Seo Joon and Kang Ha Neul had great chemistry and their dialogue was just adorable! I'd love to see them together in something again! My bias is Park Seo Joon, I tend to underestimate his acting ability but every time I see him in something I'm surprised. I know he's good but I'm surprised every time.

2. The Golden Monk

4. Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds
Korean Movie - 2017
Loved it!! The storytelling, the characters and the CG was amazing. It makes the audience reflect on their own lives as you experience the movie. This movie is an experience. And so worth it.

5. Monster Hunt 2
Chinese Movie - 2018
Wu Ba is soooo cute!!! The story isn't that out of this world but if you enjoyed the first movie then you will enjoy this sequel. This was such a fun watch and some great laugh out loud moments. I love Jing Bo Ran and he was awesome in this (SPOILER: Wish he was in it more). I was also happy with the addition of Tony Leung. I thought with his addition to the film the focus will only be on him, since A LOT of people were buzzing about his appearance, and his character would be random and out of place but they incorporated his character very well and he carried the character very well. A legend is a legend. If there was going to be another film I'd definitely watch it! <3 WuBA!
Overall, a fun family movie.

6. Operation Red Sea
Chinese Movie - 2018
From beginning to end there’s was no rest. BANG BANG BANG. BOOM BOOM BOOM. so exciting throughout the whole movie. The time, effort and resources put into this movie is admirable. But for me, I prefer movies with more characters development. I wasn’t able to connect with the characters and root for this survival. The story wasn’t much either so unfortunately this was just a blockbuster for admiring the special effects and stunts. So if you enjoy those types of film. Definitely watch it

7. Mr. Pride vs. Miss Prejudice
Chinese Movie - 2017
This was not good. The character building scenes, the development of the relationship were all skipped over. I felt nothing for the story or for the characters!! Nothing was important in this movie. The beginning, middle and end had no impact on one another. This was just one pointless story to tell.

8. Hanson and the Beast
Chinese Movie - 2017
No bad. Liu Yifei was very pretty (I still don't like her, her acting is just mediocre) and the story was okay. But it was a little rushed. i couldn't feel any chemistry because it felt rushed. One moment he was scared of her, and literally a minute later, loves in the air. It didn't make any sense for me. I liked the ending, but because a strong relationship between the leads weren't established well I couldn't feel the angst that I was supposed to feel.

10. Ajin: Demi-Human

Meh. Only watched this for Sato Takeru. Not particularly interested in the story or characters. What does that tell you about the movie?
-
11. Cheese in the Trap
Korean Movie - 2018
Nowhere near as good as the drama.
-
12. The 8-Year Engagement

Another great Sato Takeru performance! A lovely and moving story well presented, well told and well acted.

13. Along With the Gods 2: The Last 49 Days
Korean Movie - 2018
I think this movie told a very good story about the guardians. The storytelling was done particularly well and although predictable kept the audience on edge until the very end. I really enjoyed watching the reveal of their own stories and how they are connected to each other. But with questions answered, even more questions are raised and maybe we'll get answers in the next instalments or maybe not. If those questions aren't answered, it's not the end of the world.
This movie created great characters with depth that we can understand and root for, who would have thought he was the "bad" guy, and I loved the closure at the end. It doesn't need to be dramatic and obvious. I love that it was done with respect and subtly. The three guardians are amazing. Haewonmaek isn't just the comic relief, Duk Choon isn't just the sweet and compassionate girl, and Gang Rim isn't the perfect leader. And I love that it breaks all the stereotypes and adds to their characters.
I didn't care for the brother, his story was just to help us understand the guardians and to act as a parallel and to help the characters come to realisation. I loved the background story. Enough character development and great storytelling.
