Directors And Writers To Watch For
Like my Actors/Actress lists, each will have a list of what I've seen of their work. Unlike the said lists though, this may also include reasons, or pictures, or both, explaining why I loved their work enough to put on this list. To be honest, I rarely actually look at who's written/directed something, but when there's a pattern in my favorites having the same director/writer one can't help but notice and give them props.

Lee Eung Bok
South Korean
At this point, I couldn't tell you whether it's Lee Eung Bok's directing I fell in love with, or Eun Sook's writing, or even the acting that I've seen in these shows, but Goblin was one of the first drama's I watched, and ever since I loved the others the two did together.
I mean, the cinematography. I think.. that I am so in love. <3 Each scene is breathtakingly beautiful, it is a pleasure to watch and is candy for the eyes.

Kim Eun Sook
South Korean

That being said, I really love the character relationships that she writes. While I did not like the female character of Descendants of the Sun, thus not enjoying the main relationship there, I did enjoy the bromance. In fact I loved the bromances in DotS, Goblin, and Mr. Sunshine, as well as the realationships between the other characters. In fact her characters and their relationships (for me at least) really make the dramas so enjoyable to watch.

Zhang Yi Mou
Chinese
Just one gander at the cinematography of the first two movies alone would tell you why I really love this director (though that's not to say the others aren't, i just was introduced from the first two >.<). Not only is the scenery captured beautifully in his films, but so are the action scenes.

Song Jae Jung
South Korean
Alright, so I just finished Memories of the Alhambra, and there were so many mentions of W in the comments that I decided to look at who the writer was, and what did I find? Just that she also wrote Nine Times Time Travel. The combination of these shows put her on this list. I've decided that I like the worlds she creates and the ideas she has for her stories. Nine Times Time Travel is one of few time travel shows (at least in kdramas, but others as well) that clearly sets it's rules of time travel and has clear consequences work perfectly. Like wise these rules are still followed through in the other shows she writes, which is beautiful and really nice to see as a viewer. However where she is perfect in that regard... her endings tend to be semi open-ended and frustrating as a viewer. They give you just enough that you can continue the story as you see fit (which is honestly how I like to write too) but for people who want clear cut endings... she doesn't provide that. Looking at the 3 shows, there also happens to be a pattern of female leads that are more like sideline characters for the main male lead to love... Other than those points though I really do love the worlds and rules for the worlds she creates and follows through with

Kim Won Suk
South Korean
If we take a gander at my favorite dramas list, 3 of the 4 of these listed found a home there. While writing does have a part to play in this, one's directing have to really bring us to the world. Arthdal Chronicles is probably the pinnacle of "bring you to another world" being, itself a litteral other world. Making it extremely important for the viewers to buy the entire world as possible, and Kim Won Hyuk does this, from a cavern-esque forestry place, to a full city that you could visit. Not to mention the clothing designs that have to be made for each people while keeping each individual.

With Run On being their first, and currently only drama, it's hard to tell yet... but I love Run On so much, that I am excited for whatever comes next!
