Kim Bo Reum is a South Korean speed skater. She graduated from Jeonghwa Girls' High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Korea National Sport University. She liked speed skating since she was a child. In 2007, she was selected for the South Korean national junior team and won the gold medal in the women's 2000-meter relay at the Asian Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships. In 2010, she decided to switch to long track speed skating winning a silver medal in the 3000 meters at the 2011 Asian Winter Games. She participated in the 2014 Winter Olympics but could not earn a medal and tore her anterior cruciate ligament limiting her appearances for a while. She became a specialist in the women's mass start, a new event introduced in 2016 and won gold medals at the 2017 Asian Winter Games and at the 2017 World Championships. She won a silver medal at the event in the 2018 Winter Olympics but got involved in controversy when South Korea was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the women's team pursuit event. She seemed to blame teammate Noh Seon Yeong and was accused of bullying, something Noh immediately confirmed. However, after returning to South Korea, Kim showed evidence of her being the victim of bullying by Noh for several years and the public and media forgave her. She finished 5th in the mass start event in the 2022 Winter Olympics. Afterwards, she signed with Bonbu ENT and plans to appear more on TV.
