Muramatsu Eiko

Educated at Japan Women's University and Keio University, she pursued English Literature and became involved in the Bungakuza theater company during her studies. Making her stage debut in 1956 in "Onna no Issho," she later joined various theater groups including "Kumo" and "Group NLT," and co-founded "Roman Gekijo" in 1968.
In 1961, she married Minamihie Tsuneo, her second cousin once removed, who worked as a technician at Nippon TV. They have a daughter, Muramatsu Eri, who followed in her mother's footsteps as an actress.
After a hiatus to raise her children and manage household responsibilities following her husband's passing, she returned to the stage in 1995 and founded the theater unit "Salon Gekijo." Throughout her career, she has also authored poetry collections and works on childcare and philosophy.
Her academic contributions include teaching roles at Tottori Women's Junior College, Hokkai Gakuen University, and Keio University, where she was promoted to professor in 1993. In addition, she served as the inaugural director of Kurashiki City Theater "Geibunkan," starting in 1993.
