Shin Jae Pyung is a singer-songwriter, producer, composer, professor and member of the indie rock band Peppertones. He graduated from Gyeonggi Science High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). While in college, he met fellow student Lee Jang Won at KAIST's Folk Club and Rock Club, as both were part of different bands. Lee's band won the Creative Song Festival, and afterwards, he personally recruited Lee to join his band.

He made his debut as the leader and guitarist of the duo with the EP "A Preview", released in 2004, and immediately became known due to his excellent sense of arrangement and refined harmony. The pair then released their 1st album, "Colorful Express", in 2005. In 2007, the song "Superfantastic" won the Best Dance & Electronic Song at the Korean Music Awards and in 2008, they signed with Antenna Music. He has also written songs for other artists, most notably girl group f(x), singer-actress Park Ji Yoon, and singer Baek Ah Yeon and also continues to promote as part of Peppertones.
