Kim Hyun Jae, previously known by his stage name The King, is a South Korean rapper, dancer and former member of the boy group BLACK6IX. He has a special talent for writing poetry and painting. He applied for "High School Rapper 3" but was not selected for an audition and later entered "The Unit" but was not selected during the auditions. He debuted in 2017 as the maknae and main rapper of BLACK6IX with their 1st single "Please". They had several concerts in various cities all over the world and released more singles, EPs and mini-albums but the group never quite caught on in terms of popularity and officially disbanded in 2021.
In 2023, he entered the singing survival show "Peak Time" (using his real name) as a solo artist and was grouped with 4 other contestants in Team 24:00. However, an anonymous source began spreading allegations online accusing him of school violence. He denied the rumors and JTBC launched an investigation. At the conclusion of episode 5, he decided to leave the show to avoid any more harm to his teammates but he vehemently denied being guilty.
