Cho Yong Jin, known professionally as ALi, is a South Korean singer-songwriter, musical actress, radio host and musician. She graduated from Gyeonggi Girls' High School, then obtained a bachelor's degree in Living Music from the Dankook University, Cheonan Campus and later obtained a master's degree in Music Technology from Sangmyung University. As a child, her parents took her to a pansori class and spent 3 years learning, however they objected to her attending an art middle school and opted to send her to a general school. As a teenager, she wanted to become a singer but, once again, her parents opposed until she won the Grand Prize at the Youth Music Dance Competition. In 2005, she was a featured artist in the song "I'm Not Smiling" by hip hop duo Leessang and featured in a few more later on. She officially debuted as a solo artist in 2009 with the song "365 Days" and immediately became popular after appearing several times in the show "Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend". She has great musicality and she is very involved in her albums as she writes, composes, and arranges the songs, and also participates in arranging songs for music shows. She has sung many OSTs for South Korean dramas and in 2018 she was invited to Pyongyang, North Korea to sing at an event to promote peace between the countries. In addition, she began getting interested in musical theater and was cast in the role of Mrs. Danvers in the musical "Rebecca" in 2019.
