Bando Kotaro

At the age of five, he became a disciple of Sawamura Sojuro the seventh generation, and at the age of eight, he moved to the apprenticeship of Bando Mitsugoro the seventh generation. In 1922 he made his stage debut as Sawamura Kentaro at the Imperial Theater, and from 1924 he called himself Bando Kotaro. In 1930, he graduated from the 6th generation Onoe Kikugoro's Japanese actor school. Around this time, he participated in "Youth Kabuki" at the Shinjuku Daiichi Theater, chaired by the 4th generation Kataoka Nizaemon.
In 1931, at the age of 20, he became a movie actor exclusively for Shochiku Kyoto Studio and made his debut with "Yonaoshi Daimyojin" the following year. Around this time, he married Iizuka Toshiko, an actress at the same Shitakamo studio.
After the war, he joined Daiei Kyoto Studio in 1948, and transferred to Nikkatsu in 1955, Shintoho in 1958, and Toei in 1960.
He died on November 28, 1981 at the age of 70. Edit Biography
