Born in Matsue . Dropped out of Daiichi High School , joined 26 Shinpo in 1893, and wrote a drama review under the name of Seiseien. Become familiar with Tsubouchi Shoyo . Joined Miyako Shinbun in 1896 . In 1900, he launched "Kabuki" with Takeji Miki, and won the Asahi Culture Award in 1933 for his "History of Japanese Theater", "History of Modern Japanese Theater" and "History of Meiji Theater" trilogy . He also wrote a newspaper novel and the play "Izumo no Okuni". Edit Biography
