Im Dong Jin is a South Korean actor and retired pastor. He graduated from Seorabeol High School and later obtained bachelors' degrees in Theater from the Seoul Theater School and in Economics from Korea Open University. He later earned a master's degree in Theology from Luther Theological Seminary and an honorary Ph.D. in Humanities from Calvin University.

He made his theatrical debut in 1964 with a role in the play "Life" (생명). He then began appearing in historical dramas but his popularity increased when he portrayed King Taejo in the 1983 drama "Foundation of the Kingdom" (개국). In 1987, he received the Grand Prize in the inaugural KBS Drama Awards for his role in the drama "Land" (토지).

In 2003, he began the master's degree program in Theology and when he graduated in 2006, he decided to retire from the entertainment industry and became a senior pastor at Open Door Church. He spent 8 years there but had to retire in 2014 as South Korean law states that all pastors must retire when they reach 70 years of age.

In 2015, he returned to acting with a role in the drama "The Jingbirok: A Memoir of Imjin War" (징비록).
