WHAT AN EXCEPTIONAL CAST
I had been seeing good reviews of good bad mother for a while but didn't fel compelled to watch it because sometimes parents in asian dramas can feel so triggering in their 'i do this to protect you' self-righteouness and I didn't know if I could watch an entire drama revolving around that. But I was waiting for new episodes of my current WIP so i decided to give this one a go.And boy was i glad i did! Yes at the core it was about a mother-son relationship but it was also sooo much more. This was such wonderful mix of family, drama, suspense, comedy and romance.
One minute I'm so sad, the other I'm angry, the next I'm laughing, the next I'm going awww. The whole village dynamic, the relationships, each character felt fleshed out and nuanced. No one was perfect and cookie cut out and that's what made it beautiful. How the mother comes to realise the damage she did, how the son realises what he was raised to do. The love story between the leads. The weird push and pull friendships. The adorable twins and their banter. Just perfectly done. I also really enjoyed the mi-joo and sam-sik scenes because they were such a doltish yet earnest duo whenever they worked together to do something. The Chemistry between the Mi-Joo and Kang-ho was amazing. This was the first where i didn't need to see too many lovey dovey scene to understand how deeply they cared for each other. Even when the other didn’t remember their history.
I wanted to shake the mother sometimes but I understood that it was part of her story. The actor playing the played it beautifully.
THE ML! GOOD LORD WHAT AN EXCEPTIONAL ACTOR. From the seemingly heartless and ambitious man to a heartbroken but determined man to a clueless yet earnest man he played his role so beautifully. He deserves all the awards.
The only reason why i 6 give it a perfect 10 was I think some more time should have been given to resolving things between Mi-Joo and Kang-Ho instead of rushing to the climax.
But all in all, watch this! You won't regret it!

Watch for amazing chemistry
Call it cutie lie instead of cutie pie 😅😅 So a lot of the time the sheer lack of communication just to stretch the story fustrated me but good lord the chemistry was off the charts. Even when it felt too much watching the ML'S play off each was too much of a treat to give up watching and im not even talking about just the love scenes. The ML just really played banter well. Lian's Micro expressions of wonder, longing and exasperation, Keua's vulnerability and mischief. The actors did a great job. Plus the friends group was so lovely and absolute hoot. Syn was one of ny favourite characters. A definite rewatch with a little bit of skipping maybe. Was this review helpful to you?

ALL THE BL FEELS NONE OF THE TOXICITY
Do yourself a favour and watch this series. Why?1) the acting and chemistry of the leads is not just the one of the best I've seen in any BL romance but ANY Romance I've seen. Their interplay and dialogues are so natural it doesnt feel contrived at all!
2) it subverts all thr cliches of thai bls. Minus being yet another engineering/architecture college series none of what happens feels tired or steroetypical.
3) the script is just beautifully done. We seemlessly go from a heartfelt emotional moment to a funny one tk a serious one to romantic one with ease. It doesnt feel stitled or forced at any point.
4) there's a strong sense of agency in all the characters they all feel fleshed out
5) the communication and genuine affection we see between the characters and their friends. It's sometimes takes a bit to get there but the MLs truly want to be together and want the best for each other as do their friends.
6) THE ACTING AND CHEMISTRY OF THE LEAD AGAIN BECAUSE IT IS JUST THAT GOOD.
I was smiling throughout watching this Pat and Pran feel like people i know and will stay with me a long time.

A LAUGH OUT LOUD K-ROMCOM AFTER AGES
I've been a but of kdrama slump when it comes to romcoms, so when i ramdomly came across this title, i went in with no expectations. And boy was I surprised. This was a fun romp that consciously takes every cliche from kdramas and fairytales and puts it on steriods. It doesn’t take itself seriously at all, that makes for such fun viewing. I belly laughed at some of the scenes. The narration, the animation, the lead characters, the supporting characters, even the villian, were so camp that it was a delight to watch. This may not have that many swoonworthy moments between the leads but the leads genuinely look like they enjoy each others company and respect one another. It also doesn't descend into a typical marysue trope. It really deserves a higher rating. Was this review helpful to you?
