More of idol drama than wuxia
Rant: Not expected from a high budget drama with good cast. Casting is the best thing here. Acting is good.Got many pretty faces to waste my time.. I don't care if you're willing to watch this drama for your idol. All casts are pretty honestly but heck, I didn't watch this drama for that sole reason. If that's the case, then I can just follow them on IG or search their face on google.
Too much plothole especially the political plot. Can feel that they try hard to make it like NIF that they forgot it's wuxia. Some character write ups are so bad like the queen.
Fight scenes are not good especially for ML. He just sways his fan then kaching. But he looks cool though haha. I believe he could do more. He has nice physique.
All in all, it lacks so much effort on fight scenes.
Some fight scenes are also so mindblowing. I sometimes think they hired a xianxia choreographer for an wuxia drama.
The plot is tolerable from the start then it went downhill.
Very Disappointing and insulting because they say it's wuxia.
*Not everyone is like me so take this opinion as a grain of salt cause I lot of people are willing to watch a drama for eyecandy cast. If you're not really after the plot, this is going to be fine cause the cast are really pretty. Can't deny that.

Love It
This rating is relatively higher than my usual rating because this drama is not that hyped. Another plus because it has such a nice heavy plot. Not expected. As others said, Mu Ze is the most outstanding character. Safe to say he is the one I look forward to. Also he is charming hahaha.
Mu Chuan is a bit meh. Idk if it is just because of bland character or facial features but I can't feel him as an actor. I don't think it's his fault tho but I always skip his parts.
Anran character is intelligent. I love it. Thank God for not giving me a damsel in distress fl.

Brilliant
Mei Changsu is so intelligent! It almost seems like he is predicting the future. One good thing about this is that the intelligent villains and main characters are consistently intelligent. They don't lose IQ or what. The story is also good. Picture quality is superb too w/ nice costumes. No plot armour for characters, and realistic.Fei Liu is very cute. He always compete with the general abhaha. These two are very loyal to MCS. I love their characters.
Sad ending.
I also like the Second Prince. Even though he is the villain, I think he is suited for this role.

Nice treat
I like the story. It didn't deviate too far as an wuxia unlike the other one hahaha. Sorry got so very disappointed in the other one. This felt like jianghu. There is a sense of peace and mystery. I also love the hairstyles (my bias). Each character has their own style so they don't look the same. Every character is well written so far except for Wen Rou. I don't understand how she became the third lead. Su Mengzhan/ zhen or Lei Chun is even more crucial to the story.
Story is ok but fight scenes are bad too. Not well choreographed especially the first few episodes. But towards the end, it did have some improvements.
Not bad. Didn't felt cheated.

Surprised with this show
Best surprise here is Dylan Wang. I didn't expect that he will be able to nail the character. Also he looks good all in all.Esther was okay too. Some don't like her voice but for me, it was tolerable. I do get annoyed sometimes by her and tend to fast forward but I stop getting annoyed when she was in mortal realm onwards. She got more intelligent.
The effects were so good. I love it. Costume was nice too. They deviate from the ones similar to TMOPB. Kinda getting tired of them.
The story was good too. I love the body switching idea. I love dongfang orchid too. Wish for more scenes like this.
It was a nice xianxia all in all. Not too tropey

These are my impression between the difference. Do note it's been so long since I watched season 1 so I may not be super accurate. I remember that in - In S1, colors are more vivid. Season 2 seems to lean on darker colors. Although thise dancing ladies are so prettyy!
- More fight scenes in season 2. Thank God it's not heavily reliant on CGI
- Season 1 has memorable OST (I love it so much). Season 2 OST is bland.
- Season 1 has a lot of mystery. I think on the first few parts a mystery spans 1-3episodes unlike in season 2, a mystery is almost 6(?) episode long.
- Romance felt forced. In season 2, the romance started to get better especially for PXJ and LLF because in S1, LLF is so in denial of his feelings. But really, they can definitely work out as best friends, I don't see the need forr romance.
- PXJ talent is given more highlight in season 2. In season 1, I felt that she was like a filler character.
- Their bond in season 2 is so stronger. Every character has their own strength and seeing them working together is just so satisfying.
All in all it was still good!
Btw, I just want to say that the wife of both Dugu, portrayed by Xi Wang, is so pretty. Actually, all female side characters are pretty.
Regarding the cases, my favorite are the last two.

Chemistry chemistry chemistry
>> This got a higher than usual rating from me mainly because of generous kissing scenes and chemistry. <<Plus the leads and second leads are cute. I like their dynamic. Fave character is the ML. He is so sweet and charming ? also very protective of Jin Er. Jin Er is admittedly annoying a times but I love her sincerity for her husband.
For the plot, it was ok. Not really exciting but not bad. A decent story for a romance drama. I'm now into arranged marriage drama because of this.

Started strong with good cgi
The costumes are so so good! I like the dunhuang style. Glad they went out of their way and try new styling instead of the usual plain clothes. The CGI is top notch especially the 12 gods arc!!! All characters look so pretty and handsome. But again, this is not enough for me.
Sadly, after the mortal realm arc, the story just went downhill for me. Misunderstandings over and over again, I can't stand it. They've (leads,) already went through a lot but they don't communicate. Bruh.
I love the fox and the prince love story the most. Sadly I didn't see them again, at least before I dropped.
Chen Duling is so convincing as a villain.
Bailu and Luo Yunxi is good.

Cuicui is super cuteee
I love the side characters and side stories!! Special mention to my favourite bamboo shoot Cuicui! He is the shipper of our leads. I also love the marquis cause he is so gentleman and so good to Miao Miao. A walking greenflag although very childish. Honestly, I want to ship him with the princess. They look good and compatible together.Side story about water demon and that demon catcher arc is so sad. Water demon couple just want to love in peace. All because of that stupid empress. Literally sacrificing eveyone and everything.
Another side story that is heartwarming is Miao Miao's convo with her dad. All about that scene is pulling strings along my heart as I also lost my dad. I keep crying in those times.

Plotholes all over the place
I like Zhao LiYing. Her fight scenes are well done too. Lin Gengxin is also handsome but gosh, the story is all over the place??? Basically, male leads fall in love to Chu Qiao from head to toe just because she is fierce? Too unconvincing considering the society she is in. She gets out of trouble because ml saves the day. Her sister is also pathetic wtf. Suddenly she falls in love with the guy that allegedly kill their dad? And the ending wtf. Why would shawn dou's character suddenly wanted to kill Chu Qiao? His reason is too weak. Li Qin is thw only logically written character, fr sheltered to derranged princess. Was this review helpful to you?
I can't see anthing new
Really. There's nothing new here. If I'm going to watch this for the first time, it is not bad but I can't help and conpare it to Ashes ofLove and Love and Redemption because IT IS SO SIMILAR! The casts says it all. Anyways it's actually fine to see something that it similar but for some reason, the plot here is a "little" worse? Probably because of the villain and the sister? It seems their IQ is so low and they have nothing better to do than chase the so called love. Ughhh ?Cast lineup is good. Acting is of course good. That's yang zi and cheng yi, both veterans of their field. Other casts are also veteran. They wasted resources and potential for this.
This was supposed to be one of my highly anticipated xianxia drama.

Satisfying short drama
Got time to spare? Try these short drama. As someone not into romance, this is good. These actresses weren't known to me but they portrayed their roles very very well! I was able to feel the difference in vibe even after the face swap. (This is hard to nail. I've watch a couple of personality change dramas and I can say this is so far the best.)
Amazing for those 2 NEW actresses. Actors were good too like the general and prince. I dunno but the general gives me Ren JiaLun vibe and at some angles, I see their similarities.
Nice costume and production quality. Obviously not draggy. More appreciation for new actresses and actors.
