Melancholia
* Ratings are relative to the scores on MDL and based on my opinion that a show above 8.5 is mostly favorable for users on this site. Making 7 the average and moving out from there prevents there being too large of a spread and forces me to be more systematic. For me, anything I've rated 8 is still mostly decent. 10 is not perfection but the top of what is available.
* A show is judged according to its own genre. My simple request is that the show succeeds at what it was made to be. For example, rom-coms are meant to be consumed as rom-coms. While pet peeves (such as too much filler) will definitely affect my score, some tropes can be acceptable if done in a way that still feels fresh.
* Certain genres get judged more harshly depending on the rules each show creates for itself. Shows with endings that kill the premise are penalized heavily.
Genres I expect more out of: Psychological, Slice-of-life, Crime, Mystery, Political.
Genres I'm skeptical of: Law, Medical
