Eternal Love/Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms
I had put off watching this drama for the last 4 years. Why? I have no idea. Maybe the 58 episodes scared me a bit.
Absolutely recommend it 100%. It helps a lot if you are already familiar with Chinese mythology and cultivation system. However, as long as you don't start trying to find logic in the myths, then you can watch with no worries and enjoy a very good story/drama.
This is based on a very popular book. A lot of dramas have taken a few bits and pieces from that book, so you will find a few 'familiar' plots. However, this drama puts it all together nicely. It's funny, romantic, tragic, awe inspiring. It has it all.
Acting. Ahh... sorry, this is where a few fans will get upset with my comment. However, if I leave an honest review, I have to say this.
Yang Mi: She is considered to be a great actress, however, she falls short for me on every single drama she is in. Is like she has facial paralysis or something. I can't get the facial expressions from her. However, the story here compensates a little and didn't make me stop watching.
Mark Chow: Truly good acting. You could tell from his facial expressions the difference in the characters. (no spoilers)
Dilmurat Dilrabat: I loved her on "The King's Woman".... so disappointed in this one though. This role was not good for her. She does not do goofy/innocent girls well.
As for the rest.. everyone did a very good job.
Story: One could follow the different lives and how they connected with each other with ease. On some dramas I have to keep notes on the side to connect the stories. However, on this one I didn't need to take notes. The story occurs over a span of 70,323 years.
Ending: Happy.
Twists and turns: Ahh... the infamous misunderstandings. Lots of it in here.
In the end. I don't want to give anything away. I would say highly re-watchable. May find something I missed every time I watch it.
CGI: yeah.. it sucks... but it is not as bad as other CGI.
Similar to Journey of Flower.
