i like how the story run at full speed, going straight to business. really i wish all romance is even half as fast paced as this movie. i dont wanna spend two hours watching frustrating silly misunderstanding just to ssee the leads being together in the end.

also its really commendable and hilarious how they managed throw all those 'wrong', 'guilty' cards from the beginning to right until near the end. i couldnt hold my cringy laugh when they face their parents at the end. tho i ddint expect the truth to be more complicated than i thoought.

the music isnt something i would listen outside the movie but its done its job for the movie.

35 Eps drama is not my usual taste but watching this one i didnt feel bored through the whole thing. There is barely any romance cliche or issue. on the contrary it was quite a warm, down to earth, mature and realistic drama, welp, minus the cheesy and cringe bit from the second half of it i guess (xD) but thats still manageable (lol, ive seen worse).

Both ML and FL are definitely the highlight of this drama. They are both interesting character and not ones you usually find in romance drama but for me the most interesting character is actually Ruoxin's mother. She was such a complex character that it hard to read her at first but when you learned her history, you'll understand and feel sympathy toward her character.

All in all, this is good drama, no regret watching through the whole long and slow 35 episodes.

mostly rant, bit of astonishment

i applaud the director for trying to give it a different vibes but some parts feel totally out of timing and doesnt make as much impact, also some scene & plot just came out of blue.
also its still suffered from the inherent problem of manga adaptation. that just happen when you try to cramp 11 vol story into 2hrs movie.
still i appreciate the freshness nonetheless, compared to the manga, eventho some scenes are just weird and doesnt make much sense. maybe i might have appreciate it more if i hadnt read the manga, or maybe, on the contrary, bashing it more.

and oh im not finished yet, i have so much question regarding the musics and cinematography choice, those are something youd see on movie with story like Oboreru Knife (yeah im aware that is the director prev movie) or Puzzle or World of Kanako or some movie with character that looks high from doing too much 420. i guess she did want to make it that way. if only she made the first half less shoujo-ish that would be great.

(oh, also glasses miona actually not bad.)

i was writing this while watching the movies. now that ive finished watching it all, its actually not that bad, except the story is a bit of a mess. if i can change the title, ill change it to Hot Mess.

If theres one thing i really like from this live action, it is how it totally gives different feeling than the original manga. the cinematography is totally gorgeous, if theres rating for cinematography here, id totally give it 10/10 on the heart beat.

Balance In All Thing

I was pretty hyped when this was announced and it doesnt disappoint. I waited for the last ep to binge it and i finished the whole 20 eps in the weekend (lol). Probably best webtoon/manhwa adaptation ive seen so far.

I love how they portray their struggle for basic daily life because of their power, not just the glorious and convenience aspect of having superpower. The actions scene are also neat but whats even more important is that they dont forget the character's dynamic and plot like most action story do. My favourite is Bongseok and Heesoo relationship, its *chef's kiss*, tho their parent's arent any less interesting either. All in all, story is pretty neat and tight, probably help that the source material isnt that long either.

Oh last but not least, flashback was so long it remind me of Turn Back the Pendulum (lol). Its nice tho hahaha

its a puzzle with a vastly different picture from the pieces

this is really interesting. its been sometime since i watch something that keep me on the edge of my chair, wondering what the hell is this, where is this going, who is who, whats the story supposed to be, only to be met with the most hilarious revelation and cracked the longest laugh i have in the long while.
.............but that is not the end just yet, theres still some 'miracle' waiting for you at the end of it all.

all in all, really interesting POV and build-up, and as i wrote in my prev post, possibly one of the greatest elaborate prank of a twist.

i honestly wasnt expecting much from the plot or synopsis alone but the execution was great. although they could do with a cleaner script as it can be a bit confusing during some parts.
this kind of story isnt something new, its been thought and done but few are as good as thins. its the character that bring the different. i love how both leads are kind of 'nutjob', they dont hesitate taking things to the extreme. i specially like ji soo hyun, shes the kind of cool female character that talk less and do more, the kind that show her feeling and emotion through her action.

i never thought id put horror and epic in the same sentence. i love how the event snowballed to be such a huge battle. now thats another word id never put together with horror (movie) in the same sentence, id usually just say fight.

each characters also get their own stage of spotlight. its like the main character keeps changing throughout the story.

this movie also managed to give an urban/ modern touch to an otherwise occult movie and they did it seamlessly. it also show you dont really need an overly dark visual to give movie an eerie vibe.

although some details were left unexplained, at least the give us just enough cue to what might be the case.

overall this is the first horror/ghost movie of whick i could enjoy the story as a whole.

Everything is pretty, almost mystical

Im not really into musical type movie but i find this one pretty enjoyable from start to finish. The songs all are good, it fit the atmosphere. The dim light, the colors make it feels serene and mysterious. The scene where he chase her running through the alley, it was like an illusion, mystical, alluring you to leave reality.

Truth be told, i was kinda tricked into watching this since no where was stated that this is a musical, would be more hesitant otherwise but im glad i watched it. Maybe it help that the musical wasnt dance heavy. plus all the songs somewhat fit my taste make it all the more enjoyable.

The story itself is pretty decent. It took a rather subtle approach, tho the ending is kinda anti-climatic. And yeah as you probably have guessed, in a true jmovie fashion, the ending kinda left you hanging. LOL. But as some people said, the process worth more than the end result. arrgghhh i wasnt gonna write anything but the more i think about the more it annoy me.
honestly BaLa character is the flaw that disturb the flow of this story. when i remove BaLa from the equation it went from bad explanation to no explanation. why is everyone is so quickly and really fixated in BaLa. If they would slow the pace a bit and more carefully, BaLa relationship with other character would make more sense. I havent read the nove, so i have no idea if BaLa's story is originally like that or not.
I would have rated it 1.5 point higher if not for that.

edit: ok, i finally read the novel.

bala's story and relationship was better explained in the novel while despite the shorter length i find the later part was better in the movie, it felt more meaningful.
i gotta say both the movie and novel have their own pros and cons. there are some parts that the novel elaborate better and other parts that the movie summarized better.

the first two eps are totally slowburn, i mean i kinda understand it necessary for the world building but its still a little bit too much. fortunately im familiar with this kinda thing. the cinematography, the tone keep me going. the flashback help me to understand where and how the characters stand.
i like how this show slowly getting darker and more violent as it goes. another interesting part is faction. this story isnt a straightforward two way fight between our hero and the villain. tho im a bit disappointed in the last fourth of eps. they fricking tune down the dark tone. seeing how hero was built till that point i thought we would get more rage, violent and vengeance. instead the put too much emphasize on money and conspiration. sigh.

music were all on point. totally fit the mood of this show.

its hard to come by a good comedy romance drama because it tend to be cliche and predictable. most of the time you can guess what would the characters say next or what they gonna do based on their personality/role and the situation. yet this drama overcome all of that. while the scene or situation might seem cliche but id often go "woah thats cool line" or "what a darn thing to do". this drama also managed to avoid useless filler and unnecessary fanservice scene. every scene count for the build up. tension and emotion. and while while it is a comedic drama it has some depth to its story. pretty rare.

there are also many memorable scene like the "drunken french" or "drunk/crazy dance"

the first 10-15 mins was a bit confusing and puzzling but if you like the kind of movie that throw a bit of everything at the get go and explain what the heck was that later, then this is it. i dont find this movie lacking in detail maybe a bit vague but thats what im into. they keep it short and tell what they need to tell. the plot is also unique, not many movie out there with this kind of story. maybe there is one or two part that was a bit asspull and wtf but they had hinted that beforehand so i guess its fine.
the fight scene is also cool especially the one at the end. they censor the gore scene by making it black and white, plus point for people with weak heart i guess.
and last as i expected i like it best when tao play this kinda dark character.

story wise this drama bring nothing new crime/investigation. nothing hadnt been done by any other drama of similar genre. no twist is unexpected in this drama.

one character bother me the most. kang mi character has no other purpose beside being an eye candy, all she has done also could have been done by any other characters, all her word are all just rhetorical bullshit, her character bring nothing to the story.

all those being said, i like the IT aspect of this drama. its at least believable, no such thing as magical technology bullshit.

music is kinda hit or miss. there were guitar shred that bring thrilling vibe and another time there were hiphop music thats kinda out of place.

oh god i can feel the cringe down my spine
i was putting it on hold for quite a while after ep1
continue to watch again (ep 2&3) just so i have good reason to drop it from on-hold to dropped

feel like the characters is way too exaggerated and flat. the character, personality, action, and word are like a scarecrow in nurse outfit holding a machine gun.

and did i mention it cringe me to the ground. also no matter how you look at her, her face is that of a 30 yo woman. they should do a better job building it, at least make it a little more make sense and realistic. instead all the justification come out just through other characters word.

and what make me cringe even more is that naive male teachers. i know he is supposed to be the 'good guy' but to me he came out as unreasonably and unnecessary kind, also tactless and clingy.
