Now, some of you might be thinking, "Uh this is over 50 episodes long and each episode is about an hour long... How am I ever going to finish this??? Is watching this with my busy schedule even feasible?"
Well... yes, it is feasible for you find time in your schedule to watch it because it's really worth watching... Since the show's first episode aired, I've watched it about 4 times.
I love this show because this is the first foreign show I've watched where there is a very, very strong female protagonist. I grew up watching USSR, Chinese, and Korean shows/ movies and all of them did not really display any elements of female empowerment. However, Empress Ki is not only beautiful like many other female leads--- she is witty, strong, and brave. A master at martial arts? Empress Ki. An elegant young lady? Empress Ki. Someone who fights for justice? Empress Ki. The fact that this show is based on the real Empress Ki is what shocks me the most..... 10/10 It's been my favorite show since middle school.

The plot was definitely worth watching; I would have never thought of a news reporter who hiccups when she lies to be the main character of any show. I also liked how they tied in the fate of the main male character's parents death to the fate of the main female character's parents death--- it showed how they were connected by some unusual, spiritual forces.I genuinely do not think that this was Lee Jong Suk's best production. He's been in much better shows. In total, he is a great actor however, he's been in better shows with better plots. As always, his acting appeared to be very authentic as he played his character really well and he was passionate in scenes where his brother was accused of being a murderer.

This may not be my favorite Chinese drama, however, it was definitely addicting. The acting was serious when needed but most of the time, it was too quirky. Then again, this was meant to be a light-hearted show. The actress who played Lan Xinya did a great job acting and being the villain. I hated her. That's a good thing though... that means did that the actress did a great job. Her conscienceless ambitions in ruining Chen Qingqing's life while acting all innocent to Si Tufeng was OBNOXIOUS. I accidentally became addicted to this show even though I conciously knew that this show is very cringey-- but it's a good type of cringey. Was this review helpful to you?
Personally, I prefer historical shows, like Empress Ki or Queen Seondoek however, I did enjoy watching What's Wrong With Secretary Kim. The cast is attractive and the plot is surprisingly good. I think that I binged watched this in about a week with a friend.
Overall, I would recommend this show to a friend... 8.5/10
