This was one of the first non English dramas I've ever watched, and I've watched quite a few since then, so I thought that now would be a very good time to write a review. I cannot lie and say this is an amazing, brilliantly written drama - because it's not - it's filled with plot holes, frustrating situations, overly dramatic reactions and a weird soundtrack. The acting itself often leaves a lot to be desired - but you can really tell, for a mostly inexperienced cast - they really tried and they poured their hearts into this. The chemistry between two leads is really amazing, I've watched this drama over nine months ago and I still deeply care for them. The plot is mostly one chliché situation after another - so it's like watching a bunch of netflix movies one after the other, and sometimes that's just what a girl, or boy (but mostly girl) - needs. Was this review helpful to you?
Most overrated show of the year!
Deceived by high score this drama has I have watched it from the beginning to the end. Just wanted to write a short warning - do not waste time on this drama - directing is bad, story isn't but it is very dragged and characterisation is very incoherent. If you're interested in murder/mystery/detective dramas I would suggest watching Stranger, Partners for Justice, Nobody Knows and Memorist (a few recent and quality dramas just from the top of my head). Everything that te female lead does is very frustrating, and tere are a lot of clichees. I'm sad to see that it has such a great and misleading score when there are so many great dramas out there made in the last year. Was this review helpful to you?
I was also thrilled to see Son Ye Jin, an excellent and emotionally mature actress as a female lead, knowing she will be able to have a great chemistry with Hyun Bin, and also convincingly play anyone, really.
I like how the plot unraveled, the details of their growing relationship.
My heart was warm from watching almost all of the supporting cast: the guys from captain Ri's troupe (five guys hanging out - their dynamic - very fun), the ladies from the North, especially not kdrama depiction of parents.
I simply love it.

After reading a few reviews on MDL, although skeptical, I decided to give it a go, and I was in for a nice surprise. Two main leads did their job really well and you can really feel the chemistry. Second male lead, was absolutely wonderful in every aspect, he is the guy any girl would be lucky to have, yet, I was rooting for Jeong (the main lead), the whole time, because Park Hae Jin did such a marvelous job portraying seemingly cold and distant, but a seriously sensitive and misunderstood character. Vulnerability he showed in front of Seol, really made me understand him as a carachter. What I really loved about this drama is great understanding of characters and what motivates them. There were no unnecessary dramatic ploys, because drama can be found in everyday situations.
That being said, the finale was more than a disappointment and that's the reason that overall score is this low.
